Johnson Grass

Any recomendation on how late (mature wise) you can effectively spray Johnsongrass with any success. I am using Plateau.

It is still vigeriously growing, however it is mature. I have had great success in past years suppressing it, however this year running alittle behind the game.

I've shot quite a few pheasants and quail out of tall, dense stands of it.

It is spectacular for birds. But it has awns which are dangerous to dogs.

It's been too long since I read the label, but it should be covered there. I have had good luck using Outrider. It states on the label that it can be used at lower rates and is more effective on smaller plants. I quit using Roundup because it killed not only the JG, but also any competing vegetation that was desireable and the end result was a larger patch of JG in subsequent years filling that void. We are seeing progress setting back the coverage of JG using the outrider.
