hearing protection while hunting

I have a shooting bag of various brands. None of them did what I wanted (to be able to hear a rooster flush and not howl when in the wind). This summer I took the advice from Mosby and purchased a pair of Alclair. They made molds of my ears so fitting is top notch. Expensive compared to the “one size fits all” brands? Yes they were. But not nearly as expensive as hearing aids. My advice? Buy something that fits and you will wear every time. Ask anyone who wears hearing aids and they will say that they wish they wore proper hearing protection in their younger years….

I’ve worn the orvis $25 version which aren’t available from orvis but are about $20 through other retailers…you get 2 sizes…they work great for me, wouldn’t be caught without them,

Funny story...

I've been active on this thread the past couple days. Went out back today to do some patterning. Only 7 1/2 shot, 2 3/4", 1200 fps shells, but I shot 9 of them before I realized I didn't put my hearing protectors in! If it was 3" shells, my ears would have been ringing. For me, it wasn't good that I forgot, but I also found it funny that it was right after being in this thread. I haven't done that ever before. Must be getting old.
