I've had both males and females. The last two, a GWP and Springer, were males. They were both rescues. The GWP was a handful. The Springer is much more accomodating.
BEST was a female GWP, the "one-dog" everyone hopes to have. Tractable, congenial, great pheasant dog, and would lay around the yard as I worked, or went into town.
Both recent males would wander if left off lead, or out of the run.
Think I prefer a female for the single-dog hunter.
What have been your experience(s)?
