Below is a picture of ANGEL who made the final retrieve today after 14 years.
Good dog, good master and hunted last year finding and retrieving the birds pictured on my land in South Dakota. Although we are saddend by the lost we are better because of the full life lived by a simple dog. RIP

It's always a sad, upsetting and heartbreaking day when we loose a favorite hunting partner. Thoughts and prayers to you sdjim.

ANGEL looks like she was a great dog. RIP Angel, sounds like you were a wonderful dog. Mine is approaching 9 years old, and I can't imagine life without her.

My condolences . . . she was appropriately named. As I've always said about all of my past partners when that time arrived: "More than missing you, I'm thankful for having ever known you. We had us a time. Thanks, Pup."

SDJIM, sorry to hear that. I just went through the same thing with my 14 year old Gordon a couple weeks ago.

Lost my best 1 1/2 yrs ago. Been a hole in my life ever since. I understand where you're commin' from Jim. Get another one to fill that hole when you can but don't ever compare them.

Sorry for your loss. A good, appreciative master like you should get another right away so that it has the good life you provide.

Sorry for your loss Jim, hold on to those memories.

correction

I have just got back to reading the replies to my post "FINAL RETRIEVE" and need to clear something up---it was not my dog but that of a very close friend and I have hunted with them lots of times---yes I do feel a great lost as it was a grand dog-- I do not have a dog ---but that is going to change and very soon and I think I know the name it will have. :)

Thanks everyone for your kind words
