Dog Food

We used to feed taste of the wild but it's connected to diamond and they've had a lot of quality/recall problems some that have resulted in dead dogs. It's not cheap either and finding another similiar food only gets more expensive.

Now we feed "mounds pet food store" brand food and it's pretty reasonable priced without the corn and other fillers that a lot of cheaper food. Plus it's made in Wisconsin without foreign products.

During hunting season when they are hunting hard we'll throw some oil, fat,or meat in with there food for a boost and it seems to help.

Has anyone tried Country Vet?

I have looked at it, it is a low level dog food. It has all the APFC requirements. I did try a wierd one sold at HyVee, Doc's Petfood, it's made pellleted crumbling, dogs liked it, but it had distillers grains( enthanol waste product), in it! I don't like distillers grains in livestock feed so not for my dog either.

I have had great luck with NutriSource performance and super performance.

 I too like NutriSource and my dogs have done great on it. However, I only feed the Adult Formula. I tried the Performance and Super Performance but my spayed females seemed to gain a little weight on it versus the Adult and I didn't see any difference in their energy, etc. Anyway, all good products and I highly recommend.

I can vouch on the weight gain of Performance and Super Performance. Off season I feed Adult, I switch to Performance or Super Performance when she's hunting, she sheds weight quick during the hunting season.

Ok what about a good food, but now crazy high on price and able to get almost nation wide? Iams Sporting, Loyall,4health, I will not pay for Purnia Pro Plan

The pro pac adult mini a 26-18 that I feed comes in a 44lb bag for 29.00. By the way you can get it Rogers in Liberty MO.

Okay people. We've given the originator of this thread some very good ideas. So before this turns into a dog food debate lets just let this thread die. If anyone wants to read more about dog food choices just do a search on the site, as there have been several discussions in the past about it. This crap is getting old.

I have been feeding Country Vet Dog Fuel and it has been working good so far. That said, I wouldn't consider feeding the regular Country Vet. It just doesn't have a good ingedient list. I am getting the Dog Fuel at a feed store for $30 for a 40 pound bag. I have fed Nutrisource Performance with good results but finally got priced out of it.

Guess I dont see any one doing what your describing here Zeb, did I miss something?

I didn't say they were. I just felt this thread potentially heading in the wrong direction and gave a warning. This subject has been beat to death on this site.
