Just a suggestion, not saying anyone has to go buy big money running shoes, but if you have a store in your area that specializes in running shoes....these are not big box or chain stores.... go and get measured/fitted.
They also sell insoles if they can match your fitting. My wife does alot of running events that include pavement and trails.....she has different insoles with different shoes for each.
I did it and got a pair for my hiking boots, world of difference. My 2 pairs of hunting boots are Danner Vitals, which really fit well and don't fatigue my feet, arches, or heel.....so I don't insoles them.
