Man this cooler weather has gotten my blood pumping. Been working the dogs in the evenings and they look ready to get going as well. Sure beats the heat.
No doubt, I got mine out the past 2 mornings before it warmed up and they're starting to get back in shape (weren't that far "out" anyway). I typically do a better job of running them in the summer, but not this one! When it is over about 90 degrees, my brits will refuse to get out of their well-shaded pen.
Today in Wichita is the first cooler day (thanks to the clouds) that we've had in a couple months.
The last cool day that I even recall dates back to early June or Late May. (Anything low 90's or high 80's...correct me if Im wrong) But most days have been high 90s or triple digits.
We need some cooler weather down in Texas too. It's been over 100 degrees for like 40 straight days and finally missed hitting the mark yesterday. Can't even take my dog to the pond and toss a bumper for her to swim because it's too hot.
67 degrees this morning as i sit on my porch enjoying my " sick" day. Cooler weather and rain means the damn grass is starting to grow. It is nice to get out and work with the dog in the evenings. He is getting tired of practicing as am I. Oh well, couple of weeks I can go miss some doves.
Saw about a dozen dove flying over my bird feeder last night as I worked with the dogs. Both dogs just stood and looked at them like your time is coming. I know where you live.
I've been seeing some doves around too. Hopefully I can find them on the first...just got the 5 day w/e approved:cheers: It's sure to be fun either way.
RT,
I wanted to tell you I saw a hen about 50 yards south of I-70, flying across 99hwy. It registered as a chicken for a split second b/c that's what I expect to see round here. I can only hope she was traveling back to her chicks:thumbsup:
