Hi all, say, just wanted to get your opinion on if we should start a bragging board thread? I know we have the Photo of the year contest (great idea!!!), but thought maybe we should have one for pics we take during and after a hunt. Kind of a poor mans Best Photo thread.

Let me know your thoughts or someone can start it.

Thanks!

Greg

Hi all, looks like our first reply, so let's start it.

Very nice dvmweb!!! Looks like you guys did right well! Congrats!

So....lets start seeing those pics!

Best!

Pups first pheasants and limit. Then pups first wild rooster. We are off and running now. Not bad for only being 5 months and 18 days old.

Hi all, went out for awhile after work, got two, but lost one, poor old Duchess who's 13 can't run them down like she used too. Still, good to get out.

I used my 12b Henry Atkin:

Will see what tomorrow brings!

Justice locked up

Here's Louie rock steady!

Mid 1800's Chance and Sons 14 gauge muzzle loader with a day's limit in the wind!

a mess of chukars with the kid's 28 and my 1878 Westley Richards 12 bore

The kid wins the "first rooster of the season " award!!

Hey all, was out today for bit until the wind really started to whip up (20+mph), found some birds, but real spooky, this wind didn't help (as well as all the standing crops!) anyway, I was able to connect on one, the only decent shot of the day. I was using my 12ga Buhag Hubertius:

High winds tomorrow also, so may take a break and get caught up on some things around the house....unless I decide to go out again.

BTW, davidtodd, LOVE that Westley Richards!!!! I do like hammerguns, they are a blast in the field, great choice to take out!

Best!

Thanks Geg, here is a better picture of it before restoration.
I had a friend do a refurbish of it for my 60th birthday, and he did a wonderful job!:)

Here is the detail of the top latch after restoration.

The barrels were also re-browned among other things.

Hi DHT, your welcome! Always great to see those old gals. Oh the stories they could tell! One thing, I see that she has those evil, dangerous damascus bbls, you better stop shooting her and give that old gal to me!

True story here, when my oldest boy was in Scouts, they had a Father-Son shoot, so I brought one of my damascus hammerguns (it was a D. Gotobed 16b with a Jones underlever, repoofed for Nitro at the Birmingham Proof House under the Rules of 1954). I was shooting RST low pressure loads, but was told I could not shoot it because it has damascus bbls and that I would, not could, but would blow up the bbls and hurt someone. I also have a friend who won't go with me hunting if I shoot a damascus bbl'ed gun. Oh well, what does one do?

Anyway, great gun!!!

Best!

Greg

You are so kind to do that for me and I don't even know you- WAITAMINIT!!

Yeah, "experts" abound!!
I sold an all original, proofed at Birmingham for nitro Thomas Bland and Sons side lock 20 bore last year to a friend, and recently sold a Greener box lock that was re-proofed for nitro 25 years ago to another friend.
WE get asked continually if the barrels are safe to be around when we are shooting them!!
" Heck no, run away, run away!!" my one buddy said!:D
The fact that Greener will still make you a Damascus barrelled gun seems to escape them......

This is from a hunt with Ace who I lost a month ago. It was a special day in that we took most of these birds out of a 1/4 section wheat stubble field. We just followed Ace from point to point. Not bad for a slow year.

I'm so sorry for your loss Steve, I had no clue. I always enjoyed your pics of Ace.

From today, a bird in hand is worth ten in the bush.
