Bird Dog

1 GSP dont think I could handle another :)

Six Pudelpointers. Sending Flirt to Idaho to be bred so will have four in the field. Bailey is nearly 13, but will hunt her in the backyard. My new pup is Lulu, pic attached 4 months.

1 GSP under construction

2 brittanys---they have a little french breeding--one is black and the other brown. Had setters and pointers for 20 years, german shorthairs the next 10, and loved them all..

Uncle Buck Got a guy that has been looking into the PP's his biggest concern is that the coats dont seem to be consistent. Meaning, you never know for sure what you will get. Wooly or slick. Is this true and do you have a line on a more consistent coat?

I have a sweet little black lab female who just turned 5 and also a 12 yr old Vizsla who turns 13 soon. Picking up an English Pointer in a couple of weeks.

Coats are inconsistent. I have a good idea where most are going at 6-7 weeks and it certainly depends on the parents, but if you breed a "chewbacca" to a "slick", you will get one or two of both and a number in between. Two parents with nice, wiry coats will be pretty consistant. Apair I bred 3 times and nice consistent coats.
Our next planned breeding, Cedarwood's First Offense FIN RENARDS ION FLIRT, should have the coat I like, tho First Offense is "slick". He tends to throw one slick pup in every litter. Medium to meduim dense "harsh" with moderate to good furnishings. I have plenty of pics if he wants to see them and You can see a pile of them on the Cedarwood's site. Any reference to Prairie Trout breeding is my and son Chris Clark's kennel. 17 litters to date and hopefully two next year.

1 Field bred English Cocker Spaniel.

I was apprehensive about getting one of these at first, but now I'm convinced that I will always have at least one for as long as I can. I've had other field bred breeds of dogs but none have been as much of a joy to own and work with as this little guy is turning out to be. He's extremely birdy with a huge hunt drive and lots of natural talent. He's very obedient, however, as such I've had to teach him very little about the basics of hunting. He has a good natural quartering pattern, a good nose, will retrieve anything until his legs fall off (albeit his marking ability isn't as good as some dogs I've worked with) and wants to look for birds more than eat or mark his territory. He's up to trying just about anything too. Also, I don't need to whistle or yell at him very often to stay in range but he's faster than I thought a cocker could be.

To top it off he's a great family dog that's easy to live with and take along with us just about everywhere. Given my suburban lifestyle the little spaniel has proven very good for us. I can't have a big running pointer to train at the local parks even though a pointing breed might at times be better suited for much of the hunting around here. His 35 lbs size just seems right for our living conditions and needs. My wife loves him too. He's a gregarious little clown, it's hard for anyone who meets him not to like him. He's a velcro dog in a big way though. Some folks may not like that about him if they had to live with him 24/7.

2 shorthairs;;

I have 4 Cockers at the moment. One is more my wife's pet than anything... although I do take her out occasionally. These three are my main dogs right now though. Polly in the front is the dam of Breeze in the back left (she is 5 months), and Rocky in the back right (2.5 years).

I absolutely love these dogs, and this breeding in particular.

1 EP, 1 English Cocker, and 1GSP.

Always was a EP, GSP guy but I have to say I love having the little cocker. He is the best dog I ever had for hunting small cover. His natural abiltiy is just amazing. Will always have a ECS around.
