Big Game Tags

Totally jealous you guys that sounds AWESOME!!! Would love to get a bull elk someday! That's my number one goal. My husband doesn't hunt so he "lets" me stick to pheasants because they can't do much damage back. I told him to stop being a sissy! I just think he's content with me owning shotguns and not a rifle (other than my .17 HMR) hahahaha.

no scoop zeb ;)..no elk, no bear, no turkeys, no deer,... no game :p it burned in '05.
The western edge of the lower ranch, partially borders the hole.
 
Looks like I did not draw my trophy Elk tag this year!!!!!!!!!!! Damn!!!! I have 17 points now!!!!! WTF!!!

Don't feel like the lone ranger Bleu, I didn't draw in az, Wyoming, mont, and utah. I have alot of points in all those states. I feel your pain.

Yeah it sucks, I had a 60% chance. Next year I guess!!! I will still get a few tags. Bull OTC and then a leftover cow or two if there are some list c licenses left.:cheers:
 
Man, I am missing my Colorado elk hunting. I hope that I can get some body repairs done and do it again. I am too young to give up.
 
I didn't draw crap this year (still waiting on the antelope) and I'm pissed! :) After studying draw results for my archery sheep unit for the past 5 years and having 3 points, 6 weighted going into this year's draw, I would have bet money I was getting it. No dice. About the same thing happened with my deer tag too. Still saving for elk. OTC for me this year. Fortunately I happen to live in the best OTC elk state around!
 
Zeb, congrats!!! Nothing for me!!! Moose 3 and 11, elk 17, bear 5, deer 3, Antelope 1. OTC for me. Got leftover draw letter so I may pick some from there.:cheers:

You lucky dog!!!!!! Remember Mass, Mass, Mass!!!!!! That country produces great mass, which you should look for instead of length !!!! There are more Booner's at 14 1/2 to 15 1/2 then 18 inchers. Makes it tough to judge, but if you know what to look for, you are gonna have a hell of a hunt!!! Congrats and give us some pic's!!!!!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Yeah me and Dad are pretty excited (we're the only two with tags) so it's going to be a good time for sure. That's great information to know about those bucks up there because aside from seeing a few from the highway on my way to float the N. Platte, I haven't really studied them. I'm sure the Nikon 60x scope will get plenty of use!

Are you going to be at the snake training next weekend at Quail Run?
 
Man, I've been off the site for a while and all of this talk makes me wonder why.

Nice drawing Winchester. My parents have a place in Rand so I'm in North Park all of the time. You should have a lot of fun on your hunt. Stop in and BS with the guys at North Park Anglers. They know the park well (especially Scott and Matt).

I drew a first season either sex tag for the North Park units. I was going to start banking points, but thought it would be a lost cause. I'd never catch up, so just burned my two points and am looking forward to catching the bulls at the tail end of the rut.

I also drew a late season (Dec 1-14) whitetail only rifle tag for unit 93. It should be fun, but wish it was for Muleys. Oh well.

Moose, sheep, goat, and speed goat are all PPs for me. ONe day I guess.
 
My elk license came in the mail today. As much as I've hunted Colorado you would think I'd remember but what's the deal with the Habitat Stamp. I know you have to have a new one each year and I applied and paid for one when I applied for my elk license online. Do I get an actual Habitat Stamp or since I received my license is it just assumed I have a Habitat Stamp?

Seems like a lot of extra work for the state issuing those Habitat Stamps. Why don't they just add a dollar or two to the cost of each license and designate it for habitat.

I bitched at them for a couple years because you needed to have 2 five dollar habitat stamps with your first 2 licenses. Finally did what I told them and made one 10 dollar stamp, however they srewed it up on when and how you need to buy it. If you put in for elk, deer, moose, antelope, you would need to add 10 dollars to every application, because if you only drew elk and only added the 10 bucks to your deer tag , you are screwed, even though they cashed your check for deer they are to stupid to take 10 bucks out for the stamp!! I just buy mine before I even apply!!! Zeb, if you have a H on your license you are fine!!!!
