4 Generations Afield

My brother, Dad, Nephew and soon to be 92 year old great uncle took a trip out from Minnesota to visit me for a pheasant hunt. It was 53 degrees out here in Winner SD yesterday. The weather was great for my great uncle, but I would have rather had about 5 inches of snow and 15 degrees. The birds would have held alot better. It was tough going, plenty of birds but getting close enough was the problem. A lot long shots taken. And yes the 91 year old man drilled one with a 20 ga Ruger Red Label. Pretty awesome!

Absolutely awesome! Might be the best hunt story & photo I'll ever see. Thanks for sharing this treasure!

That is great, I was lucky enough to have 3 groups that included 3 generation hunters. That really makes my day. Four generations is rare and something you will remember for a long time.

That's what this sport is all about! Now I gotta go hunting, and it's all your fault.Did you really need to bring your bodyguard? Is Winner that tough a neighborhood these days?

cool photo! those look like some fat birds. not having to scratch through snow must be nice for them this year so far. that 4 generations is a pretty special thing, not alot of people get to be together like that:thumbsup:

What a great picture. Looks like quite a few of the roosters held for you. My father is only 75 and can't hunt anymore due to heart problems. Your picture was a little bittersweet for me knowing I've hunted my last day with my father. Can still go fishing! Happy Holidays to you and your group.

That was a hunt to remember and treasure! My dad turned 80 this fall shortly after moving into the State Veterans Home. He suffers from dememtia, it's no longer safe to let him handle a firearm and he's very unstable on his feet. My sister brought him up for a couple days of our deer hunt over Thanksgiving and it was bitter-sweet to have him along.

Great hunt and pic! Thanks for posting.
