2013 Drought Monitor

You beat me too it ... We are getting hammered here in Broomfield, haven't seen it rain this hard in a couple of years. We might have gotten an inch in 20 min.

Getting slammed right now with hail and heavy heavy rain. Water has crossed over the curb and gutter across the walk and is into the yard.

It got after it last night!

It rained pretty good on the northeast side of Colorado Springs where I am. I was up in the mts. on Saturday shooting some live flyers and working on my year old labs upland work (he is a pointing lab). It rained on us up there. Then let my son shoot the .22....good times

Feel bad for you guys out there Bleu. Had 7"+ this week here in VA. Way to much at one time. One of the wettest and cool summers I can ever remember. Wish I could send a little bit your way.

S.E. Colorado and the Western half of Kansas need some cloud seeding! Just not many clouds!!!

Monsoon season seems to be kicking in, seems like southern Colorado has been getting some rain in the past few days.

Also, tropical storm Invest 94L in the Gulf of Mexico may move across Mexico and inject some moisture into the South West. Also, Depending on which way hurricane Erick goes, that may contribute a bit of moisture in the area as well. Finally, the southeast has been getting hammered with rain due to the Bermuda high ... my home town Mobile, AL (or closest civilization) has received over 3 inches of rain since July 4th. Need for the Bermuda high to shift a bit and we could be on the receiving end of a lot of moisture. The Bermuda high plays a role in how much moisture comes our way during the monsoon season ... or something like that. ;-)

.. The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 1000 PM MDT for
south central Logan County...

At 837 PM MDT... Doppler radar indicated rain had ended across the
warned area. Over 3 inches of rain have fallen earlier from near
Iliff to reiradon hill over south central Logan County.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Iliff.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
Sandy Creek.

The Waldo Canyon burn scar received over an inch of rain in 20 minutes:eek::eek:

Feast or famon...

Greg

Looks light we might be getting some monsoon storms over the weekend and early next week.

We received a fair amount of rain last night in Broomfield. Hoping that the folks down south get some more, they really need it.

Overall, at least up north, if you go by the corn maxim "knee high by the Fourth of July" ... I would say that most of the corn crops are in good shape. Driving around out east last summer, any crops that weren't irrigated were scorched by now. Since I have "ants in my pants" ;-) I want to do a little scouting soon in north east Colorado. My friends in Nebraska near North Platte have been reporting fair to good amounts of rain.

Beginning Sunday and continuing into the middle part of the new week ahead, we will see a beneficial aspect of this weather system in the southern Plains and Southwest. The upper low will provide the necessary lift in the atmosphere to produce numerous showers and thunderstorms from Texas and Oklahoma to New Mexico and adjacent parts of Arizona, Colorado and Kansas.

Current forecast guidance shows the potential for an inch or more of rainfall across a wide area in parts of Oklahoma, northern/western Texas and New Mexico. Heavier amounts of 3 to 4 inches are possible in this broader area, which again, could result in some flooding problems.

It is still early and storms are moving north and east. Sunday and Monday should be good days for precip as well.
