Which 16ga O/U

Got an itch that needs scratched. Always liked the 16 and have a gorgeous Ithaca 37 in 16ga that I love but I’m wanting on in an O/U. Looking at the Rizzini BR110 Limited and the Franchi Instinct Sideplate models.

Thoughts, preferences etc?

I'm a big Rizzini fan, I've got a Roundbody EM 28ga that I love. But one thing to know about the 16ga BR110 is that it's built on the 12ga frame. The other models like the Aurum, Artemis, Roundbody, etc are built on a 16ga frame. These models are quite a bit pricier, no surprise there.

I like Franchi's too, and I have seen a couple of the Instinct Sideplate models in Scheel's and they look great. I'm 99% sure they're built on a 16ga frame.

I'd like to run across a FAIR SLX600 in a shop someday so I could hold it and see if it fits me. There's a nice one on gunbroker right now, and they run a little under $2k.

When I grab a sub gauge, I sure like a more svelte feel to the gun…that’s 75% of the reason I choose to take one…many days it’s lots of carrying and a minimum of shooting…nice carrying something lighter and easier handling…

I have a rizzini Artemis 16 gauge it’s pretty I’d trade it out in hot second for a pretty browning white lightning in 16g

Browning is what I shoot
2- White lightning 16’s. 26&28 tubes
And a Gran Lightning 28in 16 which I don’t have any confidence in and don’t shoot

I too have a White Lightening in 16. I can't shoot it worth a darn! It is a beautiful gun, and handles really well, I just don't shoot it as well as some of my other guns. It's point-of-aim is not what I am used to and I know that contributes to my struggles.

I had never shot one until about 15 years ago… I have to admit it took a bit to get used to but once I did I shoot as bad with it as I do all my other guns😂…. The added plus is it makes me feel a little Boujee with my twenty year old vest and my stained Carhartt pants. I look more like I should be shooting an old 870 with duct tape on the stock and a poly choke

"Boujee." Had to look that one up. Found it as bougie. :ROFLMAO: I remember that vest, what was left of it. lol

It’s all about looking like you know what you are doing. LoL

I have had very few shotguns I did not have to change to get their POI to match my POA.

I bought an angled spacer to fit under the butt pad to lift the POA with gun mount. It helped a bit to more closely mimic my gun mount with my other SxS guns.

Went with the Franchi Instinct Sideplate. Should get it out this weekend. It feels great. Fits well. And looks awesome. Action is tight but expected to be so. Fit and finish are very nice. It’s not a 10k rounds a year gun, I have a 686 if I ever wanted to shoot that much. It’s gonna be a grouse/pheasant stick.

Great choice!
