And how many guys were in this group?! What did y'all do just march every field with your army to where the birds have no escape? Tower shoots buddy, look em up and enjoy them.
NO ESCAPE!!!
Just my 2 cents worth

I'm afraid this thread could be headed in the wrong direction so I want to stop that from happening. We all have different hunting styles and there is no right or wrong so long as it's being done legally. If you don't like large groups, that's fine. Just remember some people do. (Personally I do not!) But please don't condemn those with a different viewpoint.

You guys that are finding birds in SD this year should feel very fortunate. There are areas that the birds are just plain gone. Probably the worst pheasant hunting I've had in SD in over 30 years.
how do you not find birds in south dak? yes the southern part i could see not having birds but i guarantee if i was hunting around pierre i could be done in 2 or 3 hours it dont get any easier! And this is on walk in
ok you meant just around watertown i thought you meant the state, but i have heard the whole state was down but for a first timer like me wow it seemed like tons of birds to me hard to beleive the limit is just 3 and in ks its 4 just dont undrstand that one? but we have discussed that on here before lol

Answer is simple ...CRP Gone, Birds Gone.
I'd say that's a safe bet Safari, especially considers the AG trends.
However, I feel it is a three legged stool maybe four unless you lump CRP and AG Trends together.
The other 2 legs are "weather" and "Population cycles".
Case in point is that everyone is say last winter was worse than one before. I disagree. In winter of 2009 I didn't winter not one bird on my west farm and had decent numbers the next year.
Winter of 2010 showed less snow in the fields and I wintered all kinds of birds on both farms and had way fewer birds to show for it this year.
Habitat does not always do it for you but you can't soley rely on weahter and population cycles either.
Have not hunted with Benelli Banger this year, but he had as many if not more, late season last year on his quarter.
Are the birds down in the area? Yes, but he has the habitat to produce them and provide winter cover.
Yes..even back then I never said that Banger himself would be without birds.
What I did say, and I believe to be true, is that he would increasingly be an "oasis" surrounded by a biological desert for wildlife (pheasants).
Well give us someting to fight for and with Safari. We all know where things are headed. What is the solution?
Good to have you back posting agina by the way.
