In 1983 I was jogging down a street in Ephrata, WA at the end of town by a school when a black lab female ran with me. Just off the side of the road the dog locked up raising her right back leg. I stopped and a hen with chicks flushed. That was more than 20 years ago.
Why a pointing lab?? Waterfowl/upland. My first pointing lab I got from Kellogg's would point or run down roosters. I winged a goose one day that glided into the middle of the Ohio River. The female I had wouldn't go get it. She was in heat. I put her up and got my male and he took hand signals and went and got it. It was a long retrieve over big water. How are GSP's on hand signals. I think the reason people say that labs are mixed is that they feel insecure about their pet breeds. Pointing labs are good hunting dogs, period.
