So . . . there's been some for, some against, and some suggesting community service, some offering "other" offenses to temper the senselessness of the perp's act.
To those against the punishment: What would you folks suggest be appropriate punishment? The guy deliberately targeted & KILLED an extremely-rare endangered species (use what you hunt.). I'll agree with the fine, or SO much community service, vigorously-enforced to the point that the guy RUNS from endangered species in the future.
Should the after-the-fact action be:
1) A marksmanship award?
2) Forgiveness?
3) A stern scolding?
4) A meal of moldy corn?
4) A recipe for poached Whooping Crane?
With choices, especially STUPID choices come consequences. The WORST part, is that others will classify him as a "HUNTER" . . . and because of this alone, ALL legitimate hunters should view this jerk with the greatest of disdain.
