Who is not hunting NW Kansas

I joined the tailgate party to NW Kansas opening weekend but have stayed away since. I'm curious who else is hunting other parts of the state and how they are doing.
I have been hunting the central part of the state and have not seen another hunter. Bird numbers are about what you would expect later in the season. They started that way, and with low pressure thus far have stayed their. Hunts have been satisfying if not exciting. Birds hold within gun range with harvest on each trip, two hunts have been especially productive.
Lets here how everyone else is doing. BDC2

I have only been out twice. Once to nw on opener and harvested a few. Once up to washington county and harvested a couple. I am planning another day in nc with my son the day after christmas. Then out west once in jan if it ever gets cold.

i hunt n central lots smith county is one of my favorites along with jewel, mitchell,i like quail around perry lake but i could very easily change my mind after out by norton that was a really cool place the country is so PHEASANT

I have been hunting in Washington Co on private land for the last 8 years straight (4 days out of the year) typically the weekend right before Thanksgiving. This is all the time I have to visit your fine state every year:(. I have never had the opportunity to hunt further west so I can not make any comparisons (will have to give that a try some day). The last 3 years have seen lower pheasant numbers and this year was about equal to last years pheasant numbers; now quail numbers, that is a different story this year:thumbsup:

You have discovered one of my secrets--hunt some of the areas others drive past getting to the best known spots. They are not all good and it takes some work, but the birds are calmer when not all flocked up. A lot of the birds have broken up with the nice weather because food is abundant and they don't spend all day in the food fields. You can hunt the grass all day tho sundown still the best.

hunted in the nw last weekend and did pretty well. saw quite a few birds, and most of the birds actually pretty darn tight for the dogs. lots of good points by the pointers and good close flushes by the labs. hope to get back in the area 1 or 2 more times this season.

kansasbrittany- wondering if you are coming out west

been thinking about heading north a bit sometime

blowing pretty good here- going to take the Britt's out and see if we can find some hens under the snow- should be some tricky shooting and I'd be happy to get one rooster- the Britts are anxious to get back out in the snow

No Sir, life has been busy w/ our most recent addition (baby girl). I made it out once while it was raining. Didn't get much hunting in. With all the wrestling tournaments scheduled for January, this coming week will probably mark my one and only real KS hunting trip out west.

Yep, I'm thinking of heading to the NW quadrant as well, but will also likely spend a day in C KS. Good luck if you get out and be sure to let us know how you do!!

take a look at my post- after the blizzard- got out for a short hunt- quite a few hen points- one rooster- 4 hens came out and the last was a rooster- seen that a few times this season
