What are you using?

Winchester xtended range1 1/4 of 4's, and hevi metal 3's.

I hunt some some places that require non tox and just about every place has the potential to jump or pass shoot ducks. I don't use much lead until ducks are closed.

Prairie Storm, 2.75, 1-1/4 #4's, 12 ga.

I have so many shells left over from seasons past that I shouldn't need to buy any for quite some time. With that said, I have no idea what all I have! LOL

Doesn't matter what you are using in KS this year. Your only going to need ONE shell since this is only one rooster that survived drought.

If I get a shot it will be the cooper coated Nitro Pheasant loads 1.25oz shot in a#5:thumbsup:

I use 12ga. 2 3/4" lead #6's Fiochi golden pheasants, nickle plated, (washed),over a pointing dog. In non toxic area's I use #5 2 3/4" Kent's tungten-matrix, 1400 FPS, 1 1/4 ounce. I have never had any complaint. I use pointing dogs, or a very tractable lab. I shot hundreds with a 20ga. light target loads, 3/4 ounces of lead, #7 1/2's ,but I got behind a big old pointed rooster, in the last row of grass in a bean field, with 6" snow, and I filled him with lead with my quail loads, 5 shots,( Kansas), my dog had to run him down. Unsettled since, I use a little more umph since. I shoot the 6#s on quail too, in pheasant country. I am trying steel this year, I got over the abomniable loads of the late eighties. Only took me 28 years! I'll see how they perform.

Unfortunately this year I might have to use a sling shot with some carefully picked out smooth stones!

Nos. 5 and 6 in 1 1/4 oz. for pheasant, no. 8 for quail, 12 ga., whatever brand the store that I happen to be in has on the shelf.
