To all my friends and aquaintences on here, I apologize for my recent absence. Seems I caught the unemployment bug as of 8/30 after 8 years of employment. I knew things were bad for a while before that, but I honestly never saw it coming. I guess when the new site director says, "what would you guys, as managers, like to discuss?" I prolly should not have said, "well, we have to do something about salaries!" I normally wouldn't have said that of course, but I had not had a pay increase since 2005. Oh well, the Lord will provide. I guess now I have a LOT more free time to post on the message board, haha. If finances allow, I'll be seeing a few of ya'll come November, but who knows. I hope the weather takes a turn for the better up there in KS. Here in NE OK, the ODWC was spraying the catfish for ticks! Friggin dry! Anyway, Talk to ya'll soon,

Sorry to hear that man! Find a traveling partner from OK and come up anyway. I can help you with free lodging (for you and your travel partner)and we can eat jackrabbits (I've seen you shoot AT roosters):D Just kidding of course (but not kidding about the free lodging!!!). Glad you're in relatively good spirits despite the adversity. On the bright side, if you don't make it to KS this year, you're probably not going to be missing much in the way of bird #'s. You and Freckles already have plenty of places for outdoor exercising in OK.....there will be more exercising than shooting going on this season.

Best of luck getting things straightened out.

Know what you are going through been there for awhile now.I've been having getting work due to a bad back.Nobody wants to hire me because of it. I wish the best to you on job hunting....Phil

So sorry to hear of this, welcome to the club. My work went from so busy I couldnt take a day off, to zip in nothing flat. I had to lay off the last of my employees last November and close up shop. I hope you have better luck in the finding a job, than my former employee's, most of them have had to move out of the state.

It got me in 2009 after 32 yrs at GM I could have transferred to KC or Fort Wayne but didn't want to relocate, although the bird hunting is better in KS.
I got a job, not as good but a job, so hang in there and take some time to hunt.

Sorry to hear bout that, It got me on tax day 2009....after some temp work, I finally decided to go back to school. I'll be headed to NE Oklahoma over Thanksgiving. From everything I seem to read the hunting's tough....be glad to get some "exercise" though. I got a dog who's looking at her first season and I'm thinking of trying to find her something other than ruffies in the mountains.

Sorry to hear the news but you are not alone. My position was terminated yesterday, a big S & P 500 company, along with about 10% of my fellow workers. Of course, this is on top of a 25% headcount reduction the past three years. I saw it coming so I didn't make any major purchases lately. Guess I will have MORE time to chase birds this year so I am not complaining. Good luck Stacy.

Wow! I am sorry to hear that guys for all of you things are tough all over it seems. I hope something turns up for all soon!

That's terrible news Stacy. If you're willing to relocate, PM me a resume or just a summary of your past work and what you're looking for, and I'll keep my eye open for you.

Sorry about not responding sooner, fellas....not much time to be on the puter lately.:( However, you know, God does indeed work in mysterious ways. This couldn't have happened at a more opportune time. My Grandmother, whom is 89, has not been doing very well at ALL. Well, I'm in Tulsa and she lives in Wagoner about 45 minutes from me, and there is no one here nor there to help. We are all we got, you know. This time "off" has been a blessing. I have been able to try to help her maintain her independence, which is what keep her going. If she were to go to a nursing home, I'm afraid she'd be gone within a month. So I'm doing whatever I can to supplement my unemployment to make ends meet and make sure the kiddos at home don't feel the negative effects, but more importantly, I'm really getting to spend a lot of quality time with, and helping her that I otherwise would not have gotten.
Ya'll, I'm just about in tears over the responses you guys left, from offers to help, to simple words of encouragement. I cannot thank you enough! It TRULY helps!
See, other than my kiddos and her, I had been so wrapped up in work, I really don't have any "friends" around here, all my immediate family has moved elsewhere over the years. For complete strangers to come on here and offer help, encourage, or even to sympathize, with me, who most of you guys haven't even met...man, REALLY puts a smile on my face!:D And thank you for that!
My Dad always used to say, "keep both chins up!" I think I'll just do that! I hope to hear from you all again soon!

Hahahaha!!! I'm never gonna live that down, am I? hehe:p

I live in Tulsa and know a few people. Hope I can help

Thank you Sir! I'm in Tulsa. I've been a call center supervisor for the last 8 years. Corporate training and management leadership training were kind of my passions during that time. I have a degree in electrical mechanics, but there's not much work around here in that field, so as a people person, I LOVE training! I'll do just about anything, and most of it well! Hehe, heck, I'll sire water buffalo if the money is good! Thank you for the offer Sir! Maybe I'll hear from you soon! Thank you again,

Stacy
