UnderArmour Cold Gear

I have several Under Armor from when I was a Police Officer and I still use it today for when Im out in the cold working or Hunting. I have black short sleeves for Police use and keeps me super warm and i have long sleeve Camo real tree that my wife bought me and i just wore that yesterday and it kept me warm all day in and out doors.

If you are really looking for a bargin slim down to around 140lbs and shrink to 5'9" and you can buy childrens XL top and bottom sets for the same price as an adult top.

I have a couple of UA cold gear shirts, but I haven't worn them the last two winters. After I found merino wool, there was no going back. Feels better, keeps me drier, and keeps me warmer if I'm not moving. I found that while sitting in a stand the UA stuff didn't do much good, and that when moving I overheated in it. Wool gets my nod.

Just got a sale catalog today from Cabelas and they have their MTP (Maximum Thermal Protection) underwear on sale. $12 off each peice. The lightweight pieces that they call "Tech Silk Weight" are only $12.99 each. Think I might have to order some.

Finally, the truth has been spoken. I too used UA before I bit the bullet and shelled out the cash for quality merino.

There's simply no beating pure merino wool (Patagonia, Ice Breaker, Smart Wool, etc) as a base layer. You will have a hard time finding an Alpinist or serious high country back packer that disagrees. Naturaly wicking, transfers moisture faster than anything else, retains warmth even when wet, light, comfortable, self cleaning, comfortable through a wide range of temps. It doesn't matter if I'm hunting turkeys in 80 degree weather or grouse in 8 degree weather, I will have merino of one weight or another next to my skin.

Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Yes.

Only use the wool underware for recreational fishing, hunting, skiing; only use Icebreaker wool, Smartwool, Ibex wool. The synthetic, for me is total failure. I did an alpine climb a few years ago where we ended up doing a bivy b/4 getting back to the car. I froze my ass off. Buddy had all wool underware and was "comfortable".
The synthetic for commercial fishing or construction works fine, but that is where I leave it.
