That is quite the specimen. Nice looking DK.

The one knock on larger dogs like that may be the tendency for more joint issues later in life than their smaller cousins. Not always the case, but you see it much more often than smaller dogs.

As you probably know size has no bearing on hunting ability whatsoever and personally I feel the smaller dogs have better endurance given equal conditioning. Either way their all beautiful animals.

I got to agree on the size deal. I like them in the upper 30's to about 50 weight wise.

The bigger dogs will do better in deep snow and very cold conditions. But the lighter dogs will tend to do better in warm conditions.

But these are all generalities, I have seen some bigger dogs that do fine in warm conditions.

I was thinking about that too! one of the other kennels im looking at his males are 60lbs-65lbs kind of a nice size

Just to give you an example. My neighbor has two yellow labs. A 3½ year old male that tips the scales at 92 lbs (all muscle) and a female 9 years that runs roughly 65-70 lbs. Even though he is quite a bit younger, she can normally run circles around him when they are playing. When tossing a bumper she normally gets to it first unless she gives him one every now and then..:D During the summer months you can easily see he tires much more quickly because of his size.
