Hello,

We are thinking about booking a trip with Southdakotawild. Has anyone hunted with this company before. Just trying to make sure they are the real deal and to find out if you had a good experience. We don't want to make a mistake.

Thanks,

I have never hunted with them but I do know Jill a little. She seems to be a strait shooter and her dad Jay Anderson hunted here with Ron Shara and a couple of of there friends and is a very nice guy. I would trust them more than most operations that are doing what they do.

NC, their pricing seems hard to beat. They have copied a ton from the UGUIDE site if you were wondering about the similarities.;)

Here's an article I wrote a long time ago about the various levels of South Dakota Pheasant Hunting experiences.

http://www.uguidesdpheasants.com/articles/south-dakota-pheasant-hunting-lease/

I would think with their rate structure is more in line with level 3 or 4 as is our tier 4 camps. Our tier 1 camps would be more along the level 6 experience.

Depends which level type experience you are looking for.

Best of luck!

the size of your checkbook also has alot to do with your experience in SD pheasant hunting see & shoot lots of birds if you pay & can hit ur target see lots of birds & bag very few if you dont have deep pockets in SD after the opening day armys go back home

Chris...good summary (SD Experience) of SD hunting and how it has evolved over the years.

Have pounded on many a door and encountered lots of angry farm dogs over the years - 13 years ago found a farm that had lots of birds and a reasonable fee to hunt and stay.

This is now history - past two years of poor hunting, very few crops and cover left standing and a huge neighbor farm now in production that was crp in the past.

I know there are farmers that will allow hunting for a reasonable fee et al. As you stated, it takes lots of homework, gasoline, telephone calls, maps and frustration.

However, if there's a will, there's a way; but it may take several years of research.

and you are probably money ahead using UGUIDE or staying home and shooting pen raised birds...you just have to decide which experience presents more value...UGUIDE will be the type of service you will need when coming to SD, unless numbers and limits are not important....otherwise your hunting will consist of more time spent driving around.

Since the original question was about South Dakota Wild, do you know anything about them?

nope, but my response was to a comment from jonnyb...is that not ok with you?

That is fine with me and it would not matter if it wasn't. I was just hoping to learn more about South Dakota Wild as was the gentleman from North Carolina. Sorry if I ruffled some feathers. Have a great hunting season. After ugides coments I went to their web site. They do look like a very good value and another option for people.

Dennis,

Based on other sites I have "googled", it appears the November and December rates are very favorable. $200 per day including meals and a room is reasonable, given today's pheasant hunting market. December is even lower.

Spose one can always find less...

agree, that's a good deal.

I am making my first trip to SD this year and I book with southdakotawild based on their price and willingness to work with my small group size. They were very reasonable to work with. Jill was more than happy to answer all of my questions and so far everything has gone as they promised. Here's to hoping for a good hunt :)
