Some old school and some new school

Old school. Granpas wing master he bought new in '53, filsons original vest (only a few years old but still old school), my Russell's (hand made is old school right) and the first bird dog in America the springer spaniel.

New school? E collars I guess, you'd think a young guy would be more into gadgets but its not really my thing.

I think the first american bird dog is the chessie.
 
Google dogs of the mayflower, a spaniel came with the first pilgrims. Sorry guys that's history, Spaniels were the first bird dogs in America.:cheers:

Great point! Good to remind all us pure-bred fans of what the original reality of bird hunting was. I remember reading about Navaho sheep dogs -- the Navaho shepherds don't use expensive border collies, they use any mutt that has the herding instinct and the brains to do the job well. Apparently, this works just fine.
Mind you, I'm not giving up my Toller -- every Toller owner knows that they are the best, just as my friend with a Lab tells me I'm wasting my time hunting with any other breed....He may be right, but that doesn't change my mind.
 
My stuff isn't necessarily old school, but it's definitely old... The life span on my hunting clothes was over a couple years ago. Just ordered some new pants and a strap vest on clearence, so I will be looking spiffy next season!

I got a new astro this past year. Wow, that thing is slick. I hate carrying anything I don't absolutely need, but I'll make an exception for the astro.
