Is anybody finding the golden mushroom? Between yesterday and today we found around 150.By far the best year I have ever had.If we can get a little rain,I think the woods will be full of them.
Just finish dinner, wild turkey on the grill, with fried morels on the side.
I think I have died and gone to heven.

I haven't found any yet:( I've heard from others on the E side of the state that they're finding them too. If I don't find some soon, can I come see you next w/e? That is, as long as you have enough for yourself, would you point my boys and I in the right direction?

no problem, just be ready for some very tough terrain.(strip pits) If we get some rain this week, they should just explode out of the ground.

I'm in the same boat as KB. I have been out a couple times looking for shrooms and found... poison ivy. I'll do a little poking around tomorrow, and hopefully my luck will change. I feel like my odds should be improving because I already have poison ivy, so that's one less thing to worry about.

No deer sheds either, but WOW there have been some MONSTER tracks in the mud!

We looked hard in a good spot last night. Every little bit I'd kick the top soil and the dust would fly. I can't believe how dry it is given the frequent showers we've had. I guess they've not produced enough precipitation or the wind has taken it. We'll try again after the next rain!

Just got done looking for about a 1/2 hour and nothing. Mushrooms 1 Me 0 but I won't let those tasty bastards get the best of me.

Who's gonna give it a shot this w/e? We're getting quite a soaking at the moment and I'm pretty sure it rained most of the night last night, so the ground should be plenty saturated. Now if it warms up again over the next couple of days I'm trying again. IF they're not out after this, I think I might give up!!

I might give it a shot Saturday afternoon after yet another turkey hunt. I tell ya, the thunder chickens are kicking my ass this year!! Now I'm just hunting them out of spite.

never tried wild shrooms with my luck i would pick the kind that would make me see things and have a trip

Then you could sell 'em, take the $ to the local farmers' market and buy some of the eatin' kind:D

LMAO! In all seriousness Gove, the wild Morels that grow around here are quite coveted. I've seen them go for $30/lb. on craigslist. Not to mention they look "unique" compared to most of the other wild shrooms out there.

I will be out first thing after turkey hunting.KB,my oldest Brad shot a 24 lb,2-beardes monster Wed.P.M.now's it's up to me.
As far as ,morels, they should be by the hundreds this weekend. It will be muddy, but I know there will be alot to harvest.
A customer at work has found over 1,000 this year,he claims this is the best year he has ever seen, and has been picking shrooms for 30 yrs.
Last weekend we found over 150 in about 2 hrs, ate around 50,flash froze the rest.
Chad,if you guys want to drive down Sunday(sb prime) let me know,I get off work at 1,canbe ready togo by 1:30,should have you back on the road by 6:00.

That is a very kind offer. I sent you a pm. It's great to hear there are so many being found. Maybe our time is coming in the next few days in this area.

Congratulations to Brad on a goodin'. I assume we'll be seeing some pics soon;)

Drizzled all day yesterday, so Morels will be targeted with reckless abandon tomorrow . . . the little Jeep needs some exercise, anyway.

Good call. The sun is finally shining here, so the shrooms should be coming up over the next few days! I looked briefly while out turkey hunting this morning, but didn't see any yet.

I think that tomorrow sb good,we only found a few today, all very fresh,so with the warmer temps, they should be up tomorrow
