Season End Armour SD Hunt....SNOW!!

UGUIDE

The Mrs. and I are headed out to hunt this weekend for a season end hunt.

the last group that hunted our place said they did not do too well and so it will be interesting to seek how many roosters we can scare up and what kind of luck we have.

the exciting part is the area may get a few inches of fresh snow on Friday for this weekends hunt and looks like the weather will be OK for the weekend without too much wind.

As usual, reports and pics to follow.

Good Luck, Lord knows we need the moisture out there. I have a friend who was doing some digging on his place with his tracked hoe. He said they were down 8-9 feet and there was no moisture, just powdered dry dirt. Not good. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Drive safe and enjoy your hunt.

1-3" coming to Martin today as well, along with bad wind chills

You from Martin CRP, I have relatives who live in Martin.

I hear that the area got 8" on new snow..bad for hunting but good for the much needed moisture.

Just arrived at the lodge. Roads were in decent condition and it sure looks like anywheres from 4-8 inches of the new powdery stuff. Fresh tracks all over the place. Came in after dark so won't have a bird report until after the hunt tomorrow.

These pheasants should be holding tight. The snow has not blown so conditions are ideal. What a blessing.

Fun Morning

We awoke to many birds moving form roosting cover to the bean fields. they looked really wild and I did not have a lot of hope for 1 person getting on these birds. Since non of the locals were able to come out today I decided to head out and see if my wife would join for the first time on a hunt as she is animal lover but loves to cook and eat pheasant and venison.

Long story short is the roosters were holding in the cover and Bailey the lab did her job on flushes and retrieves. We had a limit on the the ground in about 20 minutes. It was one of the most picturesque mornings you could and my wife did an awesome job of blocking and flanking to boot:)

Here's some pics from the morning....

Wow! That looks alot like my dog. Anyways, nothing better than hunting with the black lab in fresh snow like that. So Jealous!!!!!!!!

Very nice Chris! Sounds like you have a few left over for the breeding season on your land too (weather permitting). Win win:cheers::)

Bilbo good to hear from you.

We went out with 9 guys the next day from about noon to 4 and ended up with 9 and I thought we would do much better than that so it is always a mystery as to where there birds are and how many there are.

Temps in the 40's this week and show on the ground so pretty easy winter so far again for da birds.

Unreal amount of soybeans leftover from harvest as far as waste grain goes.
