My heart felt sympathies to you. By the sounds of it Ellie gave you a lifetime of companionship along with doing what she love to do best. Sounds like she had a good life.
Love that pic of her pointing that Phez which is dug in tight !!
Reddog, I'm so sorry for your loss. I was glad I got to pet her on head this fall. Losing pup like her is tough as hell. Remember all those fun days in the field when she made you proud as you watched her work, because now it is she that will be watching you from above.
Funny how things work out. I had scheduled a hunt in SD with a couple other UPH members a long time ago. Turns out later, that my daughter and SIL decided to give me my first grandbaby with a scheduled delivery date of Nov 19. I backed out of the hunt, because of the delivery date. Turns out, My grand daughter arrived on the 10th, instead of the 19th. I buried a close friend on the 15th and my Ellie passes away on the 19th. I guess it was just not meant to make this trip, as much as I wouldve liked to.
I am able to go this weekend, and going to spread Ellies ashes out across the South Dakota prairie on Saturday. Breez and I will reminisce about the good times with Ellie.
With that said, Breez and I are anxious for another puppy..
That is a great way to remember your dog. I have told my wife to have my boys drop me in some cattails in sd. Might as well put us where we want to be. Sorry for your loss.
...We give our hearts to our dogs, to tear, as Kipling said. I have said goodbye to dozens, never without a flood of tears and a rip in my soul. So sorry, reddog; I would love to have been with her and you, to see her shine. We never forget.
