Keeper i agree but perhaps would be the perfect dog for a older person.

Sometimes it isn't fair to the older dog to have to deal with a puppy.

I don't get this at all. You want to just dump a dog because it's moving out of it's prime hunting age? I'm sorry, but this sickens me. I can't imagine dumping my best hunting companion just because the dog aged out. Has this dog not bonded to your son? A hunting dog isn't a used truck that you just trade in because it's getting up there in miles. It's a responsibility you see to the end. That's what a good dog deserves.

All fair points Keeper and I could've expressed this a little better. The dog will be moved to a local person where it can be visited and possibly even hunted with us a couple times a year if the new person doesn't hurt. I just thought it would be a good fit for the right person. Sorry if I offended.

I apologize as well. I probably got a bit too emotional before knowing the situation and even after knowing, it's none of my business. I'm a dog lover and just want what's best for our 4 legged companions, even if they are not my responsibility. Also sorry if I offended. I enjoy this place because of the good quality company that hangs here and I also don't want to spoil that. I do hope the situation works for everyone involved.

I see nothing wrong with finding a home for the dog. We were in the receiving end of a very similar deal a few years back. Worked out well.

I’m not far from Sioux Falls, wife and I discussed it, just not the right time.

Im not one that can only look at a dog as a tool. Theyre family. I can see getting rid of a dog if you cant hunt, have to move, etc. but not because you want a new puppy.

This jumbled up thread was caused by me. I gave my opinion on something that wasn't my business. The OP did nothing wrong. I sent him a pm apologizing and I deleted my original comments. The OP was gracious enough to pm me back when he didn't have to. Lesson here is to 1. mind my own business and 2. keep my mouth shut if I don't have anything positive to contribute. It sounds like everything worked out well for all parties involved.
