Released birds on public land.

They won't last long. Should've shot them all just to end their misery. Was this up on the highline, Goose?
Yes.Ive never come across any Usually you have to work hard for a bird at this wma.An eagle could have picked them all off easily.

My puppy likes to schred birds. That is an E collar thing.
I have criticized these e collars, but I bought one. Unfortunately I forgot my charger on this trip, so keeping puppy in line was difficult. My puppy did pick up a bird, and started towards me,before my 10 year old lab took it from him. That was encouraging.

I wonder if south Dakota is releasing birds?
The GFP does not release birds. But there are private individuals that might and preserves are required to release birds.

I don't use the shock. I use the vibrant. I only paid 200 dollars, so it isn't a real fancy one.
I know its a bitoff topic, but my experience with the e-collars is that they it very helpful with recall without having to yell or whistle over high winds. 99.99% of my e-collar use is vibrate mode. If I have to use the shock mode on a very rare occasion, it doesnt take more than a nick setting 1 or 2 when she refuses to mind the vibration.

Ecollar is a training tool, and emergency tool in the field. A fully collar conditioned dog should never need to be nicked in the field unless it gets on a coon or skunk or something to that sort. And you shouldnt be out collar conditioning your dog in the field during a hunt...

You should never ever vibrate or shock a new untrained puppy with a bird in mouth, unless you want that puppy to drop the bird and never touch another one again. You said it yourself, training is for dumb dogs.. I refuse to believe you have trained and now collar conditioned that 5mo old pup.

Yes I have used that a few times.I forgot my charger on this last trip.Big mistake.

We run into mentally challenged wild birds occasionally. On opener my dog got one up while hunting a long ways from my buddies when we split up. It was really stupid from the get go and I couldn't shoot it because it was too close to my dog. It flew directly to my buddies and provided an easy shot. We called it the suicide bird.
