Recommendations for GSP trainers in the state

Gang,

It's looking more and more as if there may be a chance of a GSP puppy in my very near future. (With very good bloodlines from the mother and father) I'd like any insight to trainers around the area or the state or any advice in general, i.e, things I could work on with the dog etc. Thanks for sharing any insights.

I've heard good things about perfection kennels over in NW missouri. Not sure how many dogs they take in or if they do anymore.

Mark Wasserman in Wichita. Chisholm creek kennels. If he is still doing it.

Mike Koehn in Halstead. Don't know anything about other than he is there.

I actually hunted with alongside of one of Mark's dogs for years. The dog was one of the best I've seen, but after a search, I don't believe he trains anymore and is no longer involved with Chisholm Creek.

Baier's Den Kennels in Peculiar Missouri Call Wayne at (816)779-5234 or (816)210-1485. Tell him Sean Mizell sent ya.

I meet Jim Lyons, owner of Lyons Den Kennels in Kingsville MO, when pheasant fest came through KC. I had a GSP pup at the time and looking for a trainer. His operation was sound, and the training went very well. The price was also very fair in my estimation.

He used live pigeons and quail to introduce her to birds, and had me come out as often as could to work with her as well so she identified with me and my commands. She was there 3 months and when she came back she was trained to whistle and voice commands, gun conditioned, eCollor conditioned, had pointed, been shot over, and retrieved birds, and started on Whoa training. I went hunting with her a month later and she did very well. For me it was worth every Penny.

Perfection Kennels in Gallatan MO Jon Hann is an excellent trainer. I have attended seminars and have his videos Perfect Start/ Perfect Finish. If you are thinking of doing the training yourself the videos are a great investment.

My father took dog's there in the 70's, they have been doing it for a long time. When I had english pointers I had good luck with them too

I'd travel a long way to send a dog to a trainer that I know will do a good job. I wouldn't limit myself to a location because of that.

So with that being said, Maurice Lindley in South Carolina, in my opinion is the best there is. I've heard good things about Jon Hann too, but I have no experience with him directly.
