Pheasant Mounts (HELP)

You guys have any mounts with your pheasants dead hung? I shot two birds last Sunday while I was with my taxidermist buddy and I gave them both to him to mount for me. Thinking about having them hung from their feet from a walk-in sign or something. Looking for ideas. Thanks

Those do look nice with multiple birds!!!!

Mine is similar to the previous - mounted with a wire in the back. The bird appears to be either landing with wings cupped and feet down, or just taking off. It's out from the wall about 4-5 inches.

My first bird will be breast out flushing and the one above it will be back out flushing a different direction. Few more days and I will post up some good pictures that are larger then the one I have. Hard to see those small ones off the phone. 2 large old Kansas drought birds, I can't wait!!! I might have to get one with a beer in his mouth as well!!:D:cheers:

I think Nick has a dead mount on his web page. Pheasantfreaks Taxidermy

Here is the first bird not quite finished. Second bird's form looks to be at the top right, obviously just sitting there and not yet in position.

Can't wait to see finished mount--like what I see so far. :coolpics:

Post up a pic if you get the chance!:cheers:

Those babies look nice there Bleu. I love rooster mounts with their chest facing out like your bottom rooster:thumbsup:

Have you found room for that mount yet? That's a big boy!:)

My buddy got his 2 birds back! I am waiting for the e-mail for mine!

in case you're still looking for any "live" flushing pics for ideas, check out this link:

Guys, I'm getting off course a bit:eek:, but take a look at all 6 pages on the link cokid provided us. Slow it down a bit when you get to page 6 (page 6 http://www.uplandjournal.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard312a/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=2;t=86211;st=75). You'll see what it looks like when pheasants freezes to death. Here's a note from the photographer and what he witnessed;

Posted by North Dakota hntr (photographer), January 8th 2014 regarding ND's winter (2013/2014)

"My friend, Al and I did go out though. I left my dogs at home. Once we saw how bad it was, we decided to leave the birds alone. I did want to get some photos though so we drove around assessing the situation. In one area some birds had become trapped out in the open and what we saw literally made me sick to my stomach. The poor bird's eyes were freezing shut and they were blind. We ended up putting six of these birds out of their misery by just stepping out of the pickup, walking to the bird, picking it up and wringing it's neck and putting it in the bag. Killed a limit and never fired a shot. I would like to have done that to every bird I saw on it's last breath.

The good news is, that the vast majority of the birds we saw were weathering the storm in protected areas and looked to be relatively fine. It was a very small percentage that were suffering like this and it was only on the last day. The weather has changed for the better and the hunting season is over.

I hate to end this on such a sour note but it was what it was. Other than that last day it was a friggin blast."
