Pheasant Fest 2025 KC

For Christmas, my wife and daughter gave me a Pheasant Fest trip package which included hotel, tickets to Pheasant Fest, and supper one night at The Golden Ox Steakhouse there in KC. They caught me completely by surprise, which doesn’t happen very often. The package deal has 4 of everything, so it will be my wife, daughter, and future son in law who will all be attending.

For the past few years, I’ve wanted to go to the PF/QC, but it has always been held in cities that were a little bit too far from our home in Texas. I figure Kansas City is probably as far south as they’ll ever hold the event, and I am sure looking forward to it.

We’ll make sure and stop by the CZ display and meet you, Kick ‘Em’ Up.

I've been thinking about going. It's always been a little too far and many years Kansas' season was still going. The first time they had it in KC, maybe 10 years ago, it was in January. I'm not going to give up a hunting season weekend to attend a hunting convention. IMO that was pretty poor planning. Maybe the last couple of years, ie, since SD extended its season to 1/31, the event has been in February. I'm in KC for work often and I'm sure I could find a reason to be there that Thursday or Friday.

Kind of an odd location for it as Missouri is not much of a pheasant hunting destination. Too far for me to drive unfortunately.

Those that visit should be sure to try some of KC's notable BBQ joints. While it's always easy to start an argument about the "best" BBQ, it's hard to deny that KC has developed a world renowned and well-liked style.

Arthur Bryant's and Gates are two that reach WAY back into KC Q history. Jack's Stack has made a name for itself along with Joe's Kansas City, Q39, Slap's, Danny Edwards (kind of a sleeper), Meat Mitch.

I've been to all those and more. There's no bad BBQ here; some is just better than others.

For those of you rushing in and out of the airport, another sleeper is Scott's Kitchen which is minutes from the terminal.

Enjoy!

Who's going to PF Fest in KC this March? If you are going, swing by the CZ booth and say hello. I would like to meet others from the forum.

Rich aka Kick'em Up!

I'm not a PF fan - but love bird dogs and hunting upland birds -- since I'm only an hour away and they are not having it in the dead of winter definitely think I'll make it a point to go unless the weather is crappy -- which can happen early March. As others stated - years past the timing made about zero sense.

The first event in KC was in 2012 and was held towards the end of February. It has been the middle to end of February for almost 15 years. I think they got the hint many years ago that some southern states still had seasons going and moved the dates to make it more appealing to those people. Either way I will be attending again this year from MN, we will be heading down Thursday morning and spending the weekend down there like we have done when it's been in other states. It's always fun to catch up with some of the PF guys we know and have a few beers telling stories of seasons past! Always a good time!

I think Matt is right it was Jan 29 in 2011.
I don’t know if I’ll make it. It could be fun to do it once.
We use to have an outdoor show and I would go every year. Towards the end it had deteriorated so bad that’s it has kind of soured me to idea of going to another one.

That show used to be a lot of fun and a decent way to spend a February weekend after the seasons closed. Recent years it's been mostly boat dealers, car dealers, powersports dealers, etc. Yawn.

I went to the one in Minneapolis (two years ago I think) because I received free tickets and it was only about 15 miles from my house. I was not very impressed. I was hoping to buy some upland gear (ammo, vest, etc) and there really wasn't much of that there. I got hounded about joining PF several times too which kind of got to me. Don't think I'll be going again.

Much rather go to the boat show or northwest sports show.

i've been waiting for it to come back to KC. was really hoping there would be a bunch of upland gear to check out and try on, mainly vests and strap vests. not good at paying $400 online just to see if something works for me, then send it back. scheels, bass pro, and orvis stores have a poor selection of in store strap vests. the vest that looks like it really suits me (australian hint) is not interested in having a booth, and i don't see the high priced one that you need a waiting list for on the vendor list either. there must be really good money in strap vests, if you don't see the need to showcase your product at the biggest upland venue in the USA. or, maybe theirs no money in it, and online sales work for them.

i thought the 2011 show was actually pretty good. i was impressed that CZ had their whole line of shotguns that you could look at and handle. you won't find that in any store. this year looks much better, even though they still have not published the speaker and seminar schedules yet.

I enjoy bbq when I am in KC. I haven't been to Slap's, Danny Edwards or Meat Mitch, I will have to try them and haven't heard of Scott's Kitchen, so will add it to my list.
At Joe's I get the Z Man Sandwich and share an order of fries. Burnt Ends, when available, are awesome.
At Q39 I get the Pitmaster's Sandwich. I like their onion strings, but they are pretty greasy.
At Jack Stack's I like the salmon.

Not going this year. Sioux Falls venue is closest to me, then Omaha, then Des Moines. MINNEAPOLIS, Chicago and KC are a bit further than I will travel. Don't bother if you want to purchase ammo. A great opportunity put hands on guns. Some of the vendors bring inventory of products to sell (clothing/acessories etc) Not bad place to sign-up up for a PF membership, but to do a lifetime membership there, they would include you in a raffle for a bigger gift prize, that happened every hour or after so many memberships...it was like that last year anyway. If you like seeing all the cool/new gadgets and electronics, get there. You might need to buy a ticket, if that bothers you, stay home, the prices on anything today will also bother you.

Dogs....another thing they will have. A lot of different breeds and kennels will be there. Anything related to bird hunting and more.

Gim, you must have been in a bad mood that day...you paid nothing to get in, close enough you could have pedaled a bike to it and not impressed with what was there? It isn't meant to be a flea market or swap meet. It is a PF deal, not sure how they got hounding about a membership, but for $35, why not? I am going to guess if they had free beer, it wouldn't have been cold enough. You had to have had a hard day at the office before going.
