KB, that's just crazy talk!
But I will tell you that I am a dog lover to the core. I WILL load up my old dog and haul him out to a pond in hopes of dropping a few doves for him to retrieve. Not because I secretly love doves, but because I openly love that ol' mutt. He has never been much of a hunting dog

, but he has always been a great friend and his desire to fetch things is stronger than his desire to eat, be petted, or anything else I can think of.
I'm a kid lover to the core as well. Heck, I don't give a darn about turkey hunting, but when my daughter said she would like to try it I went out and immediately bought a blind, a turkey tag, and started trying to line up a place to hunt. It was 10X more fun watching her get excited about the hunt than it was to shoot a turkey. Kids are what it's all about, IMO.
So anyway, KB, I hope you understand where I'm coming from and of course I think it's great that you are taking your boys hunting. I hope your boys have a great time and that seeing their excitement brings you the same joy I feel when my moth-eaten old dog plods back to me with a ratty dove in his mouth but a smile on his face. Or when my daughter nearly comes unglued as the turkey wanders into shotgun range...
That's the main draw to these "other" seasons for me. Not so much the "hunting", but just the joy of the time spent in the outdoors with kids and dogs. Honestly, I guess that's the main attraction to the real hunting season as well.

Without the dogs, kids, or hunting buddies, I could probably give it all up and actually finish my honey-do list.
