This is an opener I will never forget for several reasons. The main reason is I took my stepson on his 1st hunt for wild birds. We had gone to a buddies preserve a couple of time for some "walk thru training with him and the dogs",but as you all know it is different hunting wild birds. Well he hunted all day Saturday and got one shot, but Sunday was his day. Cannon made a great shot on a passing Rooster at 40 yards with his Single shot 20ga. Which I am having mounted for him. We also were interviewed by the Hays Daily News about Pheasant Hunting. It was also great to watch as my Momma Britt Ellie and 2 of her sons Rufus & Jack point and honor on multiple birds and covey's. Ryan the Lab did great as always finding birds in 8th high uncut feed sorgham. Here is the funny part. I never Shot a bird this weekend and don't care. I was the best opener for me and I will not forget it! Here is Cannon and our host Mr. Russell our host. :10sign:

Thanks

Priceless pic there spanning a lot of years! :coolpics:

Thanks ....That is the first of three boys to go. Been hunting on his land for close to 20 yrs now. He was happy to see the boy shoot the bird on his land and keep a Kansas tradition alive. I will be posting more pics shortly..stay tuned!

I still vividly remember my first few birds close to 20 years ago. First one was a , umm, akk, err, a hen.

Now that he's proven himself, move him away from the single shot and get an 870 with a cut-down stock. He needs more firepower. :)
