O/U Which Barrel?

Im gonna switch my citori to top first. Im finding that in a hurry when its set on bottom first (selector slid to the right, (im right handed) im sometimes slidinf the safety off and pushing it to the left at the same time, which causes me to get caught in no mans land and i cant get a shot off. Its happened 3 times, which is too many.

I don't know how old your Citori is but the older ones were famous for that. After a few million times, they would get loose and do exactly what yours is doing. Switching barrels may not solve the problem if it's that loose. A good gunsmith can silver sodder a little block in there to keep it from moving back and forth. Both guns that I saw that did it were probably 50's or 60's models.

Its a 90’s model in great shape. Nothing seems loose, its that i am pushing away (left) and forward at the same time sometimes and there is a dead spot there

Maybe mine is messed up, not sure I guess. Its always happened when Im surprised by a bird, never when im walking in in a point and am ready

Under first. Why? Less barrel displacement from kick than with the over barrel. Thus, the gunner can more quickly bring the gun to bear for a second shot.

Well, hell. Anyway, when I got my first o/u, I shot the top barrel first for a long time before someone told me that was wrong. I never noticed any difference.

I’d guess that Most of us probably don’t shoot custom fit guns upland hunting and learn to adapt with what we bought off the shelf. Maybe I’m wrong? IDK. If it’s working for you then stick with it.

Your’s isn’t the only one. I sold my browsing becuase of it.

I bought a Browning Citori 12 ga. back in the mid 70's. I had a heck of a time with the safety/barrel selector and it cost me several birds. As I was walking I would apparently bump the safety to the left and when I went take the safety off it would be between the O and U and would not come off safe. One day when I was out a nice big rooster got up right in front of me and I couldn't get the safety off. I was so pissed off that on my way home I stopped by the local gun shop and traded it off. I bought a Citori White Lightning about 20 years ago and fortunately have not had the same issue with it but I'm always conscious about appleing a little pressure to the right (bottom barrel first) si ut doesn't get hung up in the middle.

Well im glad its not just me then! I think ill switch chokes around. I wonder if this bottom barrel first thing just “makes sense” so people do it or if anyone actually notices.

This happens to me often as well, which I why I moved to top first. However, my Citori is opening when shot top first, throwing off the shot and forcing misses on even the easiest shots. This happens with 3" shells, and even after taken to a gunssmith. So, I either have to shoot lower powered loads outta the top barrel or shoot under first, which is what I see most folks on this thread do.....
now, the "getting stuck in no man's land" is something I gotta figure out. But your comments (and the others afterwards) seem like a good place to start
