First it was Quail Hound and now me. As you all know I bought a 6 month old Brittany in January. At that time I had the opportunity to buy an almost 4 year old fully trained Gordon Setter. Ever since I've felt maybe I should have bought the Gordon instead of the Brittany. Well, the owner/breeder of the Gordon has stayed in touch with me and recently made me an offer I decided I just couldn't refuse. So Molly, the Gordon Setter, will be coming to live with us. Molly had a litter of pups about a month ago so I won't be getting her until sometime after June 1st.

Molly is steady to wing and shot, retrieves and backs. The reason the owner is moving her is to make room in his breeding program for a new dog. This should be an interesting combination and will help keep this old fart young. Below is a photo of Molly on point. she looks bigger in the photo than she actually is. She's 21.5" and 42 lbs.

Excellent looking dog and a perfect size for a field Gordon. I think you two will be very happy together afield and at home. You're giving a dog a home that needed a new home. All good.

Beautiful dog George! You're mad for sure and I like it!

I've hit a bit of a snag in obtaining Molly, the Gordon Setter. The reason I am unable to get her until sometime this summer is that she just had a litter about 5 weeks ago. The owner informed me a few days ago that Molly had mastitis and was on an antibiotic. I got an email last night telling me that the infection had gotten worse and that the vet did a spaying and removed a portion of her her milk glands.

You all know the problems I've had with dogs the past 8 months, I sure don't need another dog with issues. Maybe this is not big thing but at this point I'm a little gun shy. I've told the owner that I wouldn't take Molly without a clean bill of health from his vet and a health guaranty from him.

Anyone out there ever have any severe issues with mastitis? Any long-term health effects? The spaying is no big deal as I would of had her spayed myself as I have no intentions of breeding her.

After a lot of thought and re-thinking the idea of a 2nd dog I've decided to pass on the Gordon. Nothing to do with the dog, my wife and I finally decided that one dog is enough at this stage of our lives. I really need to concentrate on my pup, Bree and put my time, effort and money into her.

Bree

Just wondering how things are going with Bree. I gotta a house rented in Lebanon for a couple weeks this fall. Was hoping I could hunt behind her and my
hound if it works out for you.

Sounds like a good choice, Bree is going to be a good dog for you, plus if you got Molly you would have to buy her a recliner too!
