NEWS FLASH: Drought ends at Ponderosa

Hope that the forecasters are wrong about today and tonight. I don't need 80 mph winds. I've already had 2 big chunks of trees fall in the yard. Both are 16 to 30 inches thick. One is really close to the kennel and hung up in another tree. It's leaning away, so I hope it doesn't back up.

Same forecast here. Hope to not have severe damage in the area. Hope your trees stay away from your kennel

Had 0.10" and gale force winds, adding this to earlier rain brings the Ponderosa to 1.35" this year.

Had two days of rainy weather and added 1.60" (PTL) at the Ponderosa making the total for the year at 2.95"
Wheat harvest is really early this year by 2-3 weeks with some in the area getting cut next week.
Haven't seen any hatches yet.

Glad you are finally getting some significant rain! We received .11 on the 25th, .07 on the 28, .56 on the 30th, and .35 this morning. Total for May was 3.5 inches. Still haven't gotten any run off. Biggest rain so far is .82. Lake is still 2 feet low and some of the ponds are still down to the borrow pit.

Had a major storm roll through in the wee hours of this morning knocking out power. Ended up with 1.30" of driving rain, bringing yearly total to 4.25". June is historically the highest rainfall at the Ponderosa although some years there might be none. Rainfall here is kind of like, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get".

Hopefully, there will be some more pond filling rains. Would love to see some good rains at Cheyenne Bottoms.

Dry dry dry. We miss all the rain. In extreme drought again on the monitor. Looks like CRP will be butchered again. It has been great for the hatch with cool weather.

We only got .3" last night, but have had close to 2 ft the last couple months since this stuff started.
I lived in Frontenac a for few years back in the 70's One of those years was well above Pittsburg's 44" annual rainfall (I want to say around 60"). Quite a shock for this old western Kansas boy that was used to 17-18" at the Ponderosa.

I just talked with a friend last night. We hunt their family farm that is split between Norton and Decatur counties. He said it is getting some good rains this year and things are looking pretty good vs. the last few years.

We got .78 Saturday night. Nice rain, but still no runoff to fill ponds or the lake. I drove to Ellsworth yesterday and from around Sterling, north, the creeks were bank full and water was standing in the fields! That 3-6 inches they got might be more than a fella needs!!!
