Nebraska Opener Bound

Gettin' ready to lock, load, and move out for SW Nebraska for her opener Oct. 29th. Don't know anybody up there; just gonna hunt their version of walk-in which is all CRP in NE, no stalks or stubble. Went last year to a location farther east than my destination this year and did not see or hear a pheasant nor see any sign of a pheasant. Hoping for more than just a $400.00 walk this year.

What part are you headed to exactly? I hunt there also but have not heard anything from the locals yet on numbers or how they fared this summer. Should be talking to them in the next couple weeks to find out more. Good luck, hopefully the weather cooperates that weekend.

Snugging up to the SW corner of NE.

I hunted the NE opener last year around Imperial and saw tons of birds. Bagged 5 in two days with more cripples than I care to admit and even more misses! You should have a great time. Wish I was going this year.

Hey Britchaser, what makes you think you deserve to hunt the Nebraska opener? And on public ground and walk-in areas! Shouldn't that be reserved for Nebraskans? Better start a thread to allow close off the first 2 weeks for Nebraskans only. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Since it's such a great idea for Kansas. Kinda silly don't you think.

South and east just a hair of Imperial and all around McCook and keep it down!!!!!;)

McCook was a monster last year, only place in NE I seen tornadoes of birds.

The CRP,s are OK but no cropland to hunt in the mapped area. McCook for sure.:10sign:

PB, After the Hail they had in the McCook and Imperial areas this summer, I doubt you will see Tornadoes of birds this season. Farmer friends in the area said there are swaths of completely stripped/leveled crop fields and flattened CRP. It will be interesting to see how the birds faired. Hope it is better than they make it out to be.
