More rain?!!?

Not that we needed any but we're getting it anyway. It is raining like crazy again. Rivers are running hard and surely about to leave their banks. I'm very concerned about the upland chicks at this point (not that pheasants thrive around here but the quail have enough problems!!). 6.5 inches of rain in St. George in about 2hrs yesterday. It's raining hard right now...not sure how much has fallen at this point. 93 all over again?

Bummer.

I know we're wrapping up the pheasant hatch. Wouldn't the quail hatch be even earlier? If it was, wouldn't these birds be old enough to survive? I'm curious.

Really? Man, that surprises me. Here in MI the peak of the phz hatch seems to be the 2nd week of June. Of course, if the first clutch doesn't hatch, we will see some broods much later.

We have actually had a real favorable Spring. Too bad we don't have any pheasants. :( but the grouse hunting should be good this year. tons of grass hoppers, bugs and berries up North.

Here comes some more!!! Start building that ARK!!!! Looks like large hail also... Good luck!!! Hope it misses you!!!

The peak of the pheasant hatch in Kansas is usually about June 10, quail June 20. Varies some, but that is the general rule.

Ugly, Ugly, Ugly!!!!! Checked the precip indicator on fallen precip and it indicates 12 inches of rain just north of Stockton and just West, S.W. of Belleville. Those damn storms just keep training over the same areas, one after another. Long night for those folks.
Update; The fallen precip North of Stockton just hit 15.2 inches.!!!!

Heavy flooding rains in Dodge this evening and morning. Rained out the big fireworks display. It started four hours ago and is still hammering us off and on.

Some more headed your way Maynard. From Liberal north headed into Dodge this morning. Are you guys over your yearly precip already?????

I've had 3.12 so far this weekend with more headed this way. Just east of me has had over 5 and just north of me 6-8. Can't be helping our cause much.

Nope, it ain't helping us. My neighbor said there was 5" in his rain gauge yesterday evening. We must be that little red spot in Wabaunsee county. It has been falling steadily throughout the morning and the radar shows more coming our way.

6.49" the official total at the Dodge City Airport. I have heard reports up to nine inches. I am headed to the ranch, but watching the radar, I suspect the total there to only be one or two inches max.

I'm now at 3.93 for the weekend. Can't see Dodge with 6.5. Gotta be a lake. Bet the feedlots smell fresh:)

Dodge has a few streets known to float your boat(car).

Looked like the heaviest went along Highway 50 toward Spearville and Kinsley.

What do you guys think? Will this have much of an impact on the chicks or are they large enough to survive such a down pour?
