The national open is in Onsted, Michigan this year. I believe the pro trainer that Ken has been working with is located in IL.

Thats right. But just want to be clear,"I" trained my dogs. I am just letting a pro run him in some trials I can't go to :D:thumbsup:.

And Odie is done in This trial he just did not have the juice to hang in there. He finished both the first and second series but never got called back to the third. he did not have his useual drive and still got it done. He had 4 retrieves 3 buttoned on his 4 contacts. The other he was racing to the fall and took a bad tumble in a ditch and some dead fall. He got turned around and went past the fall a bit. He came back and got it and made all 4 retrieves. he never had runs to really show off much and with running off pace, it was probably the right call. I think he could have been back over a couple other dogs, but thats what we always think LOL:D.

Now Time to focus on River, she is in the 3rd, so she is going to be unleashed tomorrow. I am going to let her fly tomorrow. She is flying right now and is on the top of her game. She should run bigger each run and build right wher I want her. I ended up setting her up perfect for a multi series run. Odie was running to big for the start. So I am very happy, 70 dogs back for the 3rd now and hope for a super run tomorrow.;)

70 dogs started the third series... the field got cut to 45 dogs for the fourth series. Ken and River are still in it....

River just laid down her best run yet. She was lighting the grass on fire. She rolled out big but perfect. No whistle and two monster finds, a runner, 2 long buttoned retrieves, a moving retrieve, and hard charging leap in the air flushes. I could not possibly do any more. 6 retrieves buttoned all trial so far with smoked out runners and no handeling.. She had a down wind 3rd And ran that absolutly perfect. So she has a chance. One mor series left. They lost at least 6 dogs when I ran so there is about 40 or less left. I don't know if she will get a 5th but she sure looked good so far. I hope to get the opertunity to finish and give her a bath in a Nebraska lake for the water test, LOL 7 dogs to finish running the 4th tomorrow and then call backs to the 5th and final go. See what they think tomorrow.

Ken and River made it to the 5th series. I'm not positive, but I think they let all the dogs that complete the 5th do the water series, which would mean that River will get to complete the trial if she can run a clean 5th.... Updates are coming slow today.

Edit: 22 dogs heading to the water series, so hopefully River's one of them....

Thanks for the support guy's. River had a very nice trial going. I lost her in the 5th and final series on a retrieve. She put up another bird on the fall and I was allowed one chance to give her a line. She ran right past it on the wrong side of the wind. She was over a knoll about 20 yards out and we could not see her. I was not allowed to move up to see her and you can not handle your dog to a fall if you can not see her. I was so proud of her and felt she was right up there at the top at this trial. She had no dirt, all great finds, all nice retrieves with no handling till this. Some gunners told me if we got through, they were voting her in as the gunners award. The dog they would most like to hunt over. She did make her self known and will be back again.:10sign: It was a great time.

I'm very proud of both Odie and River.

Sigh...seems like just yesterday they were just pups. How time flies.

Now they are coveted gun dogs.

Nice work, Ken.

Sounds like you had a heck of a run. Congrats to River, Odie and you Ken. Lots of time and work on your part. I hope your crew had a great time.:10sign::cheers:

We did, it was awesome and Nebraska is absolutely beautiful. CRP as far as the eye can see. Now Odie is feeling better and has his run in the National Open to try in Michigan. I wish I could run him but he is in good hands.

here we go again:D Odie left today for Michigan, 129 dogs for the National Open Championship. Hopefuly he at least has more fun then last time. And comes home with no more vet bills! The trial starts on Sat.

Good luck Odie, I hope you have the performance that Ken knows you're capable of.

Ken?

I'll pop for suitable dog treats for both Odie and River when they are done campaigning this year. They've earned them. :) :10sign:

On your website, you indicate you are going to breed them for a Spring 2012 litter. Is that still the plan?

If I win the lottery, or sell a kidney, I'll be watching.

Best wishes.
