Howdy fellow Upland Hunters,

Brand Spankin New to the UPH Forum. I pick a new state each year for exploring the “most expensive means of putting food on ones table”. I run GSP's and have a small kennel of high breed Shorthairs here in the flatlands of Oklahoma.

Just beginning my online search of hunting opportunities for this years early season trip too Montana. Lookin at doing a mixed bag of Mountain Grouse and Partridge.

Initial Impression: Big state, with lots of opportunities from what I have seen so far online. Lookin forward to dropping the tailgate on the 2011 season.

Semper Fi

Welcome to UPH, Nice looking GSP's. If I was not a Brittany man , I would most likely run GSPs. Good luck on your hunting adventures.........Bob

montana birds

NE Montana is generally consider overall to be the best upland hunting in Montana. That said it was the WINTER FROM HELL this year..... i would look at Central montana for decent hun hunting....some public walkin land that should be decent this year. we will have some renesting going since we had heavy rain in May and early June. All of western montana forest lands hold mountain grouse, and should be decent too this year , I HOPE!
They are really underhunted and you have dog power, hope your are in good shape, the mountains are steep!
Welcome:)

Welcome, You have the best to explore, Montana. Although you ain't gonna touch er in 1 year. I've been exploring MT for 40 some years, find new stuff every trip.

SW MT is FULL of Blue Grouse. Wish I never left . . .
