Sorry to hear that Jim. He most definatley had a good run to make it to 17. You don't hear of many going that long.
Put one down a couple years ago at 14, tough pill to swallow, but it was for the best. They are in a better world now, one without all the pain or suffering.
the ONLY thing that is wrong with having dogs, is they don't outlive us, sorry for you loss, and pain, most of us know the pain of the hole in your heart!
SORRY for your loss. yes its never easy losing a dog...17 years is longer than I've ever seen one live...not that that makes it any better...just you got to enjoy the relationship a little longer. just remember the great times you had and hunts.
I am sorry he will not be with you in the field. It is difficult to loose a hunting buddy but remember the good times you shared and the lessons both of you learned while developing the bond that was formed.
