I took the dogs for a run and wanted to get the SD card out of the game camera.

I had not been seeing the quail when I was running the dog since the snow. Had gotten some pheasants pointed in the plum thicket that I put the camera in, but the quail were a no show.

I saw tracks from the other 2 covies on the place.

Thats cool! Do you have your camera mounted pretty low to the ground? I'm going to set mine out tomorrow

Its about 2-3' off the ground.

I had it on the edge of a plum thicket, so that there was escape cover close by.
Moved it to another area on the other side of the property. Next to a plum thicket, that the dogs have pointed quail in.

Now I am hoping to get a turkey pic. Saw some tracks in the snow, but not many.

I like seeing those chubby little boogers this late in the year:).

I am pretty happy to see that covey. Its the smallest of the 3 there.
There were several hens in there and at least 2 cock birds.
Just need a good hatch, and get them full grown.

At 3:31 P.M. there looks to be 9 unless I'm seeing what I just think is a quail.

I took my gang out to one of my areas up the road and saw quite a few quail tracks. Of course with the pups along there was a lot noise so they probably took off for parts unknown fairly quickly!

Looking again you might be right. But there are enough of them there that cold should not be an issue.

Steve my camera didn't bring back anything but a rabbit and some black birds. Going to put it back out for the rest of the week and see what I can get. Had the darn thing for 2 years and haven't used it. It's exciting going to pick it up to see what is on it. Kind of like a kid at Xmas! LOL

It is fun to pull that SD card out and see whats there.
Mine is going to be out for over 2 weeks, hope that I get some good stuff to look at when I get back.

Those are really cool pics.

What are you throwing out for food? Hopefully you are not also attracting raccoons and possums to set up camp in your draw.

Looks like plenty of seed. Might want to coyote call a bit. At least make him take out a life insurance policy! Still working on a plan to slide that way.
