Last Pudelpointer Hunt

12/29 was my last day out. The "young guy's" in our group chased about 150 birds out of some trees to better cover across the road where they dispersed nicely. In the last strip of CRP on the west, about 150 yards wide I would walk about 20 yards, let the dog cover on both sides of me, and follow up on her points which were numerous. The birds were buried and you could see fresh tracks leading up to the little patches of exposed grass where the birds dug in in some cases. Four were roosters, but the first flew low and I could not shoot over the dog till it got out a ways and I never really got on it. The other 3 cooperated nicely. Great way to end the season!

Nice pic buck. Sounds like a good hunt. Also, I want you to know you may have swayed me away from a black lab to a pudelpointer.

hard to beat a PP! will post up some pics later. mine is out of Cedarwoods kennel in Idaho, Bob Farris has a nice website...check it out.

Buck, you had scared there for a bit. I thought you were PO'd at PP and going to another pointing dog. Congrats on a good hunt, I wish I could have ended like that.........Bob

Sounds llike a hunt that worked out just as it should. I wish the birds (and weather) would cooperate like that here in Colorado. Congratulations.

My son(lives in McCall, ID) breeds with Bob 1-2 times a year. The Prairie Trout and Czechmate lines are ours. You will see a lot of Prairie Trout's Calendar Girl (Zoey) and DeJevu in his dogs. I hope to breed Prairie Trout's Highpoint to Cedarwood's Tukazoe, VERSITILE CHAMPION, this spring.

I never could spell that d word. Both fine dogs. Tukazoe is out of Tukr and Zoey, hence the name. I might end up with a little hair out of the mix.

Man don't you just love the collection of Ice and snow in their face and beards after a cold hunt.
