Is anyone getting excited yet?

I have been very excited about our upcoming quail and pheasant openers. Then it happened last night, an opportunity to make the 1600mi pilgrimage to SD. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't sleep much last night and haven't been worth a damn at work today.:D I understand this might not be the best year ever in SoDak but with the measley #s I'm used to here I'm not sure I can pass up such an offer.

Leaving Sunday afternoon after work for the other dakota, cant wait hope my Setter holds up this year, but if he doesn't my Springer will do his thing.

I've been ready to try my gsp on her first phez hunt at a place north of where I live that I know that has them.

Tomorrow at this time I will be on the road, somewhere around Granite Falls heading west.

Now that's a road trip. Have fun, be safe, and knock 'em down.

Yeah its gonna be a drive but its gonna be worth it. I'm gonna feel bar for the dogs in their box the whole ride but they'll appreciate it when we get there.

Good for you QH. go for it and post some pic's of your trip.:10sign::cheers: I'll bet its a trip you will never forget.:)

we made it to pierre at about 4pm this afternoon. saw nothing but a couple of road kill pheasants across south dakota. We did see about 30 or so on roads east of pierre driving around about 2 hrs before dark. Mostly on main roads. Most looked mature, but i did see a bunch of about 6 that i thought were hens untill they started to run. Should be interesting with my 2 sons and my bad eyesight. Guy we are hunting with said there are a lot of birds. We will see. It is funny, i have hunted many openers in many different states. I can't remember being any more excited. I know my dog is going crazy.

I didn't sleep well last night and after I tie up a family matter I'm on the road to my land in Platte going to miss opening day, but no one is hunting the land today so I gues tomorrow is going to be opening day for me. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.:):)

Finally! Ready to roll...

Ready to roll out at 4 am tomorrow morning heading for White Lake/Kimball area for a couple days, then west to Burke/Gregory for the next 3. My wife's birthday is Friday and I'm taking her out for a nice dinner tonight. I don't know why my buddies always plan the annual hunt over her birthday, but she's understanding. I packed most of the gear last night and this morning so that I'm not so distracted tonight when I'm supposed to be paying attention to her. Today is a tough day at work, hard to concentrate.
