Interesting Hunt

My buddy (a high school classmate) from Colorado was here for 4 days of hunting (Dec. 15-18). I managed to arrange hunting on private land (no pay-to-hunt) all 4 days and we had excellent hunting. We limited each day but my friend had some issues. He shows up with a new TriTronics Field Series Upland Special G3 EXP. He wasn't aware there was no holster, lanyard or clip so he ended up carrying it in his pocket. You guessed it, first day out he losses the transmitter. $223 later he has one ordered from Gun Dog Supply with a free holster. Day 2 he comes out of the field and his Benelli Super Black Eagle is missing the recoil pad. Benelli is sending him a whole new stock with the recoil pad. He has a young dog and needed an e-collar so I let him use the extra collar for my Dogtra 2502 T&B and I let him carry the transmitter. I still used the other collar for the beeper on Elle. Anyway, while hunting today he lost the antenna off my transmitter. I have a new one coming from Gun dog Supply. Needless to say I was able to give him a lot of good natured ribbing and I'm sure it will continue for years and hunts to come. :) The way things were going it's a good thing he didn't lose his dog.

HOLY MOLEY, George. That's quite a list of stuff lost on any one hunt.

Glad you had a good hunt and a good time. Hope yr buddy didn't get lost on the way back to Colorado!:D

NB

Pretty sure he used up 10 years of "carp happens" on this trip. You should have some uneventful hunts in the future... With that said, I would never let him forget this hunt;);):D

Carp happens? Watch it:D. That's a bunch in one hunt. At least nothing happened that couldn't be replaced.

Brother in law had his recoil pad fall off his super black eagle 2 as well while duck hunting about a month ago.

Apparently Benelli is familiar with the problem because when he called them they knew immediately what the problem was and said a new stock assembly would be sent out.

There is actually kind of a cage type thing that the recoil pad attaches to and the cage is glued into the stock. We stopped at a sporting goods store to see if they had a recoil pad. They did have a Benelli replacement pad. We put it on and then found out the price was $90. While trying to get it off, the cage assembly came out. As tight as that recoil pad fit I'm amazed that one could fall off.

Stuff falling off guns

Haven't noticed anything falling off my Sweet 16. I guess they don't make em' like they used too.
