I have a problem

I mean, how many dogs is enough? I have 3. I want about 5 more. A dog for different birds/terrain/weather. I am not sure if this itch can ever be scratched.

How many dogs do you have?

Not enough... I also want about 5 more.:cheers:

Only one or two at a time for me - not that I don't want more, just all I can do justice to with my traveling & people-oriented ministry lifestyle - sometimes even that's a stretch, but have always had a good bird dog or two around for the last 25 yrs now & can't imagine life without one!

I have 4, soon to be 6 again unless I sell a started dog. But they will all be one breed. I can hunt every game bird on the planet, any weather, any terrain. If I was going to do some big cold water goose hunting I would get a Lab again. But I am done with that. Maybe you just need a bolder spaniel. There is not a bird or state I would not be able to hunt my dogs. As far as the wife, she puts up with it. But squaks once and a while. Mainly this muddy time of year.LOL

I feel you pain! I want another dog but I need to wait until mine gets a little older my goal is to always have one that is young and one that is in its prime. By my math at some point I will have 3 dogs. Grrrrr vet bills and hungry dogs are $$$$$$.

I have 2. Labs, 80-90 pounds. The three of us fill up the front seat of the pickup. If I didn't have bucket seats I could get another dog.:)

I have 1 GSP, 3 labs with a chocolate female on the way. Plus hopefully my female will have puppies the first part of this summer. We are hoping to have my new female trained for show and one out of my Rocky/Benelli litter trained for hunting trials. I'll just have to find a trainer in our area that can help me out with that one.

two, with a third born yesterday! I don't get him until September though. Three will probably be enough for quite a while :D

That sure does sound like a good reason to get a new truck:thumbsup:

I do need to think of something, I need another pup prudy bad.:)

I have 3. A Vizsla that is 10 and still going strong, can't hunt all day but by golly he will give it a try, 1 older BLF that is around 12 or so, she retired at the age of about 8 due to a hip injury, and my 3 year old BLF which is a handful but I I love her to to death. I actually love all my dogs what am I saying???? I would like to have a pair of English Setters for quail hunting but with the bird numbers I just can't see it. So I stick with my old Vizsla for 1/2 day hunts on quail. I'm pretty much strictly a waterfowler anyway, not sure my BLF would really understand walking fields, she would be confused.

Just One

Just one little rescue Brittany. Actually he's a tall 45 pounder who will turn five this coming season. I may have two dogs for the first time ever when he's 8 -10 and slowing down -- unless I'm way slowed myself which could happen.

2 gsp and 2 britts. And soon will add a setter.

Only one here, but the discussion about a 2nd pops up now and again. We're in a condo building, so 1 will have to do for a while until that changes.

I have been thinking about a post on the other end of this –*how do you guys deal with all those dogs? I'm having enough work managing, training, and taking care of one!

Problem Solution

I have an answer that will actually help you reduce the number of dogs you have as well as the costs associated with them. You just need a dog that can hunt anytime, anywhere and anything. You should get yourself a GWP....

This is sound advice IMO.

I have had GSP's, Britts, and now one GWP. If I were to only own one bird dog, it would be a GWP. He's a hoss though and the big hairy bass turd runs out of energy before the sleek, leggy GSP......quite a bit sooner in fact. Though he won't stop hunting, he will slow down. Still, GWP is the best all-around hound in my experience.
