How many more hunts?

Just curious on how many more hunting trips anyone has planned. I have 4 more this year and have already done 3. I live in SD but its a 600 mile round trip to the farm and back.

I guess I just love to hunt pheasants, or I'm just crazy.

Used to hunt 3-4 days a week minimum. This weekend I worked on Sunday just no reason to hunt pheasants around here but the dogs still need exercise. Contemplating moving to an area that has birds. That's how crazy I am.

I'll be happy with somewhere between 8-10 more hunts (2-4 hour hunts, 80 mile return trip). Might be more, might be less - depending on how long it takes me to get a deer.

I had big plans for this year, until I was permanently laid off on June 30th. Looks like I'll be hunting local all year long. I just hope my 15 yr old daughter can bag her first wild rooster this year, If it gets to bad, I may have to break down and go to a local game farm.

Hom many more hunts left? I have not even started to really hunt yet. The best days are yet to come.

My season has not even started yet. I will make a trip or two out to western KS, but I plan to do as much hunting as I can closer to home even if the bird numbers are not as good as in other areas.

I have a 6 day trip to Kansas planned and then 3-4 one day hunts here in MN unless we get 3 feet of snow.

Will be pheasant and quail hunting most weekends from now till Jan. 31.

Will be hunting Quail every chance I get until 1 Feb. We got rain yesterday and more coming this weekend. Temp is 40 right now Thats down right cold for here this time of the year.:)

Only 2 trips "planned" but like the rest of ya, I'll get out every chance I get. I hate planning trips b/c life so often gets in the way and I strongly prefer to keep my commitments. This year's SD trip has been in jeopardy since we started planning it. As of now, only the starting date has changed. I'm thankful that I live in a state where I can go on a whim, when the opportunity presents itself.

Ill be heading to SD Every weekend till the end of the season, except the Dec 3rd when my daughter gets married. And then Ill start fishing in January.

Here in Illinois our season just started last weekend. I hunt every Saturday and take my vacation days in November and December. Vacation starts tomorrow. I'll hunt tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday and then again next Wednesday thru Sunday. After that I'll hunt every Saturday with a few Fridays thrown in. I expect to hunt about 20 times this season.

Update!

The very day after making this post I smelled a familiar smell coming from the basement. I'm an electrician by trade, so I knew the smell of burnt wire insulation immediately. Sure enough, a couple of the components in my old furnace are cooked. Not sure which ones yet, or how much it will cost, but right now things are looking pretty ugly:mad:. If that wasn't enough, the on-site interview that was supposed to be on either side of this coming w/e was pushed back one week:mad:.....the w/e I was suppose to go to SD. I see why guides get deposits now.

Life is still good though b/c I can still afford to hunt in KS this w/e.

Man that sucks. Yesterday i was at the neighbors picking up some hay for my dogs, I put the truck in 4 wheel to get through some mud and low and behold i'm stuck in 4 wheel drive. Drop it up at mechanic this morning and found out it isn't going anywhere this weekend. Luckily i found one to rent for the weekend. I only have this trip and one more to SD second week in December. I am sure I will slip a couple of other short trips in there. I am kinda running out of vacation days. I do have a bunch of sick days....Cough cough

More than I can accurately count.

I'd guess, on average, at least 3 hunts per week until season ends on January 10th here in Iowa. That last week of season I usually hunt more often too, so maybe 4-5 days that week. That'd be about 30 hunts then. :)

I save nearly all of my vacation for bird season . . . so about 30 days, many of which I'm able to limit (or get 'enough') in half day increments.

I've made one trip to NW Iowa this past weekend, and have another planned to Kansas in mid January. That'll be my first time hunting outside of Iowa.

Oh, and I've plans to try some quail hunting in southern Iowa between January 10th and January 31st. I've had luck doing that in past years.

I try to hunt everyday after work (I had only been working half days.) Just Tuesday afternoon took Rocky out and in 45 min we had our limit. Hopes the weather will hold out for the weekend to go again.

was out for 10 days end of October.
Planning on a 5 day trip over Thanksgiving if the weather holds.
I also usually do a 5 day trip in December once it turnc wintry!

I hunt every chance I get. I hunted the Indiana opener last Friday (quail), last Sunday in Illinois (pheasants) will hunt Indiana tomorrow and IL saturday and probably back to quail in S. IN Sunday.

Hunting WI next weekend (deer opener), pheasants during the week and Thanksgiving day then IL and IN again.

The season is short so you got to go every chance. December will be full and I will go to the end in Mid Jan (IL) and early Jan in Indiana.

I've got my 8 day trip out west- Pierre, SD this year, leaving next Friday. My best friend/hunting buddy will be coming back from a year in China to join me on our annual hunt  It'll be my 20th year and his 16th enjoying turkey day away from home chasing birds. He shipped his viszla back early last month so I could get him in shape :)

I've been up in northern Michigan most weekends grouse/woodcock hunting since late Sept. And I'll probably get a couple more weekends in up north when we get back before the season closes.
