Home Invasion Safety: What shotgun do you prefer?

Had to look. Here is a link to the article: http://kstp.com/news/stories/S2844917.shtml?cat=1

Seems he never alerted the police that he shot and killed two people. Some "suspicious Activity" drew their attention the next day. Something seems off to me.

A article on front page Star/Trib. A guy from Little Falls shot 2 burglars inside His house, killed them both. He is in jail, charged with 2nd degree murder.
What do You bet? He will get 25 years.

BTW. I prefer handguns for home defense. As bad a shot as I am I will end up taking out the flat screen, or shooting a kid or something:D

Story on the TV said he wounded one then walked up and shot him in the head then a girl showed up and he wounded her and then got another gun came back and shot her in the head. Then waited until the next day to call the police. You can defend yourself in your home, but summary execution isn't covered by the castle doctrine.

If you stop shooting you better have a damned good reason to start again.

Just like the pharmacist who shot the robber and ended the fight only to walk up and kill the wounded guy who was no longer a threat.

I don't care about the shitbirds getting wacked in cold blood but the courts do.

Does Minnesota have a castle doctrine?

Back to the question, I go a different route for home defense. I have a Ruger .357 pistol. First two shots are CCI shotshells, then 158 grains of nasty hollow points following.

As a matter of fact, I have had several. However, considering the distance that a home invasion presents and the fact my wife and I can shoot the wings off a fly with a handgun, I think we are OK. Have you patterned a shotshell .357 at 20 feet...ouch! I'm also willing to bet that the laser from the Crimson Trace grip might just be enough. Trust me, if I need more firepower, it's readily available. I have nothing against a defense related shotgun and have considered one many times, just haven't felt the need based on what I have at my disposal.

This is why I've always thought a Taurus Judge or Smith and Wesson Governor would be a great home defense weapon. A couple of 410 rounds followed up by a couple of 45 long colts could be a very deadly combo and something you wouldn't have to be incredibly accurate with. Just point it in the general location and easy to maneuver in close quarters.

Wow what war are you guys fighting, zombies? Shot shells have proved best for inhouse shooting, as they generally don't penetrate two drywall walls and get a love one in another room. And yes racking the slide on a pump does work! We had a couple of guys in our backyard sneaking around, my wife rack a round in my pump and they promptly jumped back over the fence only to get caught by the PD.
