Looks like about 7 counties in the south central part of the state with 6-14 inches of snow predicted with rain on the front end. I hope the beaks stay open. Baton down the hatches from midnight tonight to noon on Monday.

Oh God,

6-14" you will be screwed. :D I thought you all needed the moisture. Ground blizzard maybe, as it's headed to MN. ;)

Just kidding Chris. I hope you get more than 14" you all need it, heavy wet snow. The more the better. The birds will be just fine.

Chris I'll give ya an on site report as soon as it is over--Blizzard warning from midnight to monday afternoon.

U Bet we need it JMAC, it's all part of the Masters plan.

Blizzards and pheasant must go hand in hand if there has ever been any serious bird numbers in South Dakota.

We need the weather soon after the blizzard to be mild and sun shine. Birds are going to need to get out and feed.

Pheasants will do fine during the blizzard where they can get into some dense woody cover.

Not sure how much we've gotten so far in Watertown but it's kind of let up for a bit. We might have 4-6 inches on the ground but tough to tell with the wind. The NWS says we are to get 7-11 inches yet today and 1-3 tinight. Winds 18-25 gusting to 36 this afternoon, 29-32 gusting to 46 tonight and 18-28 gusting to 39 tomorrow.

We got the rain first here in Platte and it has stayed warm to, light rain and 32.2 degress at 4 AM this morning--no snow. At 8 AM there was 4 inches of snow with temps of around 32--then warmed up to 35.5 before a recent drop in temp and an increase in wind--It's now 34 degress with light snow and winds at about 30.

There is a LOT of really wet snow and with the rain off and on all night I'm sure there are a lot of smiles on faces around here and I don't think it is harming any birds so far and did we need the moisture.:cheers:

I don't think it hurt much here. The wind blew hard enough that it cleaned off the tops of hills in the bean fields. The birds here have not bunched up yet they are still spread out in the CRP or the sloughs, that is a good indicator that they are doing fine. Thank God for the moisture.

Glad You guys got the moisture. Getting to be that time of the year when the sunshine can warm up things quickly especially the dark hillsides.

We got dumped on with 14 inches here (NC MN )and it drifted things shut pretty well.
About 30 inches total on the ground, heavy stuff. We'll have ponds in the Spring.:)

any snow reports or ice/drift conditions for the chamberlain/oacoma SD or around the MO river breaks area or for around murdo SD how are the birds doing in that area of the state? how much snow or ice came down???

the blizzerad missed the southern half of MN pretty much stayed rain & sleet happy to see the sun out today but here comes the cold hope all the birds can get to 2 feed through all the ice!!!???
