Hello from Montana!

Hello, I am Dave from NE Montana. Just completed opening weekend for pheasent here in NE Montana, pleasently surprised at the number of birds around. I hunt with a 3 y.o. GWP and I am in the process of training my newest pup a 7 month old Large Munsterlander. The GWP did well this weekend, with some birds holding well, it was nice to have a good rain the day before the opener, was very dry before the rain. I would be interested in hearing from other hunters who own Large Munsterlanders!!! Thanks!

Welcome and thanks for the report about the MT opener. Keep posting.

Hi Dave drop by often when you have time to set a spell........Bob

Welcome to UPH, Dave. One of these years I want to get out to eastern Montana and try chasing some huns. See many in your area?

I don't know of anyone with a Large Munsterlander but have a friend that has a Small Munsterlander that is a very nice dog. Good hunter and great family dog.

Welcome Sir. Enjoy UPH. Someday I will make the trip up to big sky country.

From a displaced SW Montanan . . . welcome! I did spend a fair amount of time south of Redstone during my youth. Enjoy both the state & the forum!

Im in Glasgow area along the Milk river, but Medicine Lake and Sheridan county is where I spend most of my time afield when I am bird hunting. As far as Huns go, the area from Antelope to Westby is usually pretty good, but you will find them scattered about anywhere in NE Montana.

Welcome Husker

Headed down to Medicine Lake and Froid on Friday.
Good to hear some positive news.

Just curious....the Husker part...you a fan of "The Big Red"....N.

Me too

Mom and Dad moved down there from 1952 -1967. My two brothers and myself, born and then mom wanted to come back to Canada.

hey husker, Bozeman resident here. Good news, i usually go up to that part of the state for a week, but felt after the tough winter, conditions would be really tough.

Went to Bowdoin instead, and found a fair population of pheasants , not what it has been in the past. Welcome !

I have friends that ranch over by Hinsdale and he reports very few birds over there, the beaver creek area and ofcourse the Milk river were under water most the spring and early summer. My friend actually was over in Medicine Lake with myself for the opener
